AITA for calling out my wife’s friend in front of everyone after months of annoying jokes?

My wife has a close friend, “Megan,” who has a habit of making jokes at my expense whenever we’re in a group. At first I didn’t mind because I know some people tease as a way of being friendly.

But over time, it started to feel less like friendly teasing and more like she was trying to get a reaction out of me. If I cooked something, she’d make a joke about how I was “trying too hard.” If I fixed something around the house, she’d say I was “clearly showing off.” If I was quiet, she’d ask in front of everyone if I was “sulking again.”

I usually laughed it off because I didn’t want to make things awkward. My wife noticed too and said Megan probably didn’t mean anything by it, but she agreed it was getting old.

Last weekend, we had people over. I was carrying food out to the table and Megan made another joke about me needing applause for doing “the bare minimum.” I finally said, “Can you stop? It’s getting annoying being the punchline every time we hang out.”

The room got quiet. Megan looked embarrassed and said I was overreacting because everyone knew she was joking. I said, “Maybe, but I’m not enjoying it.”

She left early. Later, a couple of people said I made the night uncomfortable and should have pulled her aside privately instead of calling her out in front of everyone. My wife says she understands why I snapped, but thinks I may have been too blunt.

AITA?
