Starting Ballet as a 28 year old man

I spent a few years in my youth doing ballet (along with other dance styles) and loved it. I stopped due to a bit of bullying, playing football and then I became a drug addict for over 10 years. I’ve been clean for 2 years now and trying to fill my life with more hobbies.

By chance a friend of mine invited me to do a beginner course a few months ago, I really enjoyed it but talked myself out of liking it again due to insecurity. It also terrified me being the only male there, I can be anxious but it was helpful having a female friend there it wasn’t as daunting.

I know I’m too old to be brilliant at it but I think i’d like to try again and see if I can get any good. It feels peaceful when i’m dancing, I think that’s why i used to do it as a young person.

idk why im writing this but is there anyone else out there that’s started up later on in life, and what was that experience like?
