Using tirzepatide

My girlfriend (mid 20s) recently moved from Europe to USA and is struggling greatly with food noise. We think due to the additives in US food. We have heard good things about micro-dosing tirzepatide to reduce food noise.

She wants to hear from a fellow ballet dancer that they have felt good in their bodies while using tirzepatide. She really trusts ballet dancers because they understand their body very well.

If you are a current or former ballet dancer using tirzepatide please dm!

Just sharing a small, strange chapter of life (now that I can’t do tendus)

I had to "retire" from my corporate job earlier than I expected. To put it nicely: “early retirement.” To put it less nicely: I got laid off.

After that, I suddenly had a lot more free time than I knew what to do with. So I started taking a lot of ballet classes and watching an unhealthy amount of YouTube. One day while drying my hair I literally thought, “well… why not.” And for some reason my brain fully committed to the idea. So now, at 48, I accidentally became the kind of person who stays up until 3am fixing UI bugs.

I posted the early version of my ballet logging app here a while ago. The post got removed by the mods after 3 days, but during those 3 days I received so many thoughtful comments, suggestions, encouragement, and surprisingly kind reviews. I still think about them a lot.

Ironically, shortly after building a ballet logging app, I injured my TFL, came back too early like an idiot, injured it again, and now I haven’t been able to dance for almost two months. So I built a ballet tracking app and currently have no ballet to track. Honestly, that part feels very on brand for middle age.

Anyway, being injured has been harder mentally than I expected, and scrolling this community too much has apparently led me to writing this post.

I really hope I recover soon so I can dance again. And secretly, I hope the app finds its people someday. At this point, the care and effort I poured into it honestly feel more valuable to me than anything else.

I’m not trying to make some grand inspirational point. I just wanted to share this small strange chapter of life.

Thanks for reading 🩰

Hello, all pro salsa dancer here interested in ballet

Greetings! I am not sure if this is appropriate for this subreddit. However, I am a pro salsa dancer in NYC and I am looking to start ballet as a 31 year old male, to help me immensely in competition season with my spins (currently look like a dreidel when I spin XD )

However, due to my salsa training and full time job, I can only really commit an hour a week to ballet training. Again, this will be to compliment my salsa competition training.

Is it worth starting from 0 at 31 years old? Will I see an improvement with only 1 hour a week? I am also based in NYC, if anyone knows of any great studios that may fit what I’m looking for!

Thank you for any feedback!

Why do super advanced dancers always go in the last group?

I don't really care, but more curious. It seems like they want the attention and applause at the end and it drives me nuts. I would think they would go first so that the slower dancers have more time to study and learn the steps.

Natalia Osipova in Giselle

Buongiorno a tutti!
Grazie a tutti!

Rotating multiple pairs of pointe shoes at once?

Just curious how many adult recreational dancers are working with more than one pair of pointe shoes at once? I just switched back to regular pointe shoes after trying to make Gaynor Mindens work for me. I found a pair I love (Nikolay 3007), but they're already breaking down after two classes (I have very strong, flexible, and maybe sweatier than average feet). Thinking of maybe buying an additional pair (or 2?) to make them last longer, but I'm also not made of money, I'm wondering if it will make a huge difference to have shoes in rotation? (Note: I'm diligent about not keeping my shoes in a sweaty bag, let them dry out for 48 hours between wears and use jet glue to try to strengthen them).

Static Stretching Doesn’t Make You Weak — Bad Science Communication Does

The fitness world has spent years turning static stretching into a villain—claiming it weakens people, destabilizes joints, and should be avoided by dancers and athletes. But the evidence tells a much more interesting story. Short-term stretch tolerance is real, but it is only the beginning; long-term cold flexibility also involves tissue adaptation, and intense static stretching can even build strength and muscle size when programmed progressively. This article pushes back against fear-based stretching myths and makes the case for a more permissive, experimental approach: mild long static stretches are not dangerous just because they are not “optimal,” loaded stretching is not reckless just because it is intense, and people should be free to explore what works for their own bodies without being trapped by guru rules or paralysis through analysis.

Wore a unitard for the first time w/o shorts and/or a shirt covering

Adult male. So, I have been dancing now for 3 years and love it. I recently splurged on some dancewear and showed up to our first intermediate summer dance class of the summer session. A friend saw what I was wearing under my t-shirt and "dared" me to take class without the shirt. I ended up caving to the peer pressure and said, "screw it." I felt so naked, but no one was looking at me but my friend as she was studying me lol. I felt like my core was sorer after class than usual as I was so focused on engaging my abs/core and not presenting a dad-bode. I ripped the Band-Aid off and feel more confident to look more "professional" or "serious" when showing up to classes.

San Fran Adult Beginner Class Recs

Hi All. I am legitimately posting this for a friend. She found out I had started taking ballet classes in January in St. Louis and then that I had gotten some recommendations for places I could go this summer while I'm working in DC. She wants to try out ballet classes as a way to stay active, do something creative and new, and have a break from the stressful work she'll be doing in San Francisco this summer. However, she got overwhelmed trying to figure out where to even start when trying to research options and I mentioned how helpful the adult ballet community on Reddit had been for me when trying to figure out good places to look into near DC. I offered to post for her, so here I am.

Does anyone have recommendations of dance studios and/or classes that are 1) welcoming to a newbie to ballet, 2) actually inclusive to POC and curvy/bigger bodied women, and 3) in or near San Francisco? Any suggestions or info would mean the world to me and to her. I will add that she is there just for the summer but she wants to try ballet out and might continue when she's back in DC in the fall if her experience this summer goes well. You all rock and thank you in advance for any help or info you all can provide!

Adult beginner, how to get stronger edges with flat feet?🥲

21F

Soooo I decided to not give up on trying ballet just because i accidentally joined beginner classes instead of absolute beginner and almost died🫠

I never realized how weak my ankles are my goodness. My relevés are very short, and I wonder if that’s because I have flat feet? (Is it even possible to do ballet with flat feet?🥲)

I’d be so grateful for any help. Im also practicing figure skating so having strong ankles would really help me too.

Also!! How can i strengthen my turnouts? I try to stretch my hips that way but it’s like my body just can’t do it. I’m trying to achieve a middle split and it’s like trying to climb to the moon. Oh anddd when I stretch my leg up and back the back part of my knee clicks and hurts…I don’t know that’s normal or if I’m just doing it right.

Sorry for the all the questions in one post. I’ll be so grateful for any advice!💗

Passende Ballettschuhe

Recs for Marley floor with cushion for home studio over hardwood floor

hi everyone, I did a search but the posts were a few years old and didn’t address my issue.

I’m hoping to get a recommendation for a marley floor with some cushioning to go over hardwood flooring in my home studio in the U.S.

the Marley floor I have now came from one of the older threads here. It works but it doesn’t have any cushioning and I’m doing an upgrade. using both flat ballet slippers and pointe shoes.

thanks!
