Is this considered bullying or just normal friendship issues?
I’m not sure if I’m overreacting, so wanted to ask other parents/ teachers here.
My daughter is 8 and there’s a girl in her class who seems to keep influencing the friends my daughter gets close to. Whenever she becomes close to someone, somehow that friend starts distancing herself from my daughter or excluding her. It’s happened a few times with different friends now.
I did bring it up to the teacher before, but was basically told that it’s a normal friendship issue and that sometimes children just don’t get along.
I understand that, and I’m not expecting the teacher to make children be friends with my daughter. But if one child keeps influencing the others and my daughter is repeatedly the one being left out, is that still just a normal friendship issue?
My daughter is really hurt by it and it’s painful to hear that she cried during recess and it’s not the first time.
Parents who have been through this, did your teacher/school do anything?
And if there are any teachers here, if a parent told you about this, would you also brush it off as normal friendship issues, or would you look into it?
