What more does Bhuvi have to do?
Seriously, what is the criteria anymore? Watching the recent domestic and IPL seasons, it’s baffling how Bhuvi is completely out of the national conversation.
We all know his pace dropped a bit a few years ago, but he has adapted beautifully. His swing bowling in the powerplay remains world-class, and he’s arguably one of the smartest death bowlers India has ever produced. He still routinely outsmarts top-tier international batters with his knuckleballs and precise yorkers.
Meanwhile, management keeps experimenting with raw, young pacers who leak runs under pressure. I get wanting to build for the future, but shouldn't merit and current form count for something? Bhuvi offers elite control, unmatched experience, and an invaluable mentorship presence for the younger guys on the field. He doesn't even need to play every format—surely there’s a spot for him in the T20I setup, especially in conditions that offer even a fraction of movement.
Is it purely an age thing, or has the management completely moved on based on optics? It feels like he’s checked every box required for a comeback, yet he's just being ignored. What am I missing here? We need to win 2027 wc and imo with this squad not sure if we'd reach the semis.
