Got beaten up at my local Old & Young gay bar - don't know what to do next
I'm sorry for this self indulgent post but I don't really know who else to talk to about this - I just got punched and beaten up at my local bar for older and young people and I feel so isolated.
I went to my local gay bar (a leather bar, the only one in my city which is catered to older guys) and had such a great night playing pool and making friends with people there, but later on got to talking to people at the bar and ended up getting in a debate about trans people - they said they were weird and were dragging the gay cause down, and I argued that they were the ones who led the gay rights movement and we should stick by them. It got heated, and one of them said something which I called bigoted, and that really seemed to escalate things - both of them told me I need to leave now, and started pushing me out physically..I still had my bag and my belongings hidden under a seat somewhere in the bar, but they wouldn't let me get them and just kept pushing me through the backdoor. I looped round and came back through the front door but when they saw me they immediately came over and put me in a headlock and punched me in the ear and head over and over. The worst part was no one in the bar was helping me, they were all just watching. They pushed me out and thankfully this one man came out and got my things for me, but he told me to never come back. I called the police after and they took everything down, but I just can't stop crying. No one knew I was there and I don't know who to talk to. I feel so horrible, it's like I was rejected by the one community who I can be myself around. I don't know what to do, or how to feel safe again.
Has anyone experienced anything like this, and what do you do after? I feel empty and so so horrible, I don't even know how to describe it. Any help is greatly appreciated, and thank you for reading all that.
