I work as a tech, and I am excited for and enjoy working on the new V2 and all the models that are starting to use this new platform.
So far I’ve seen the Panigales, Streetfighters and Multistradas. I took a MS for a 200 mile ride and loved it!
I have gotten to try one of the Monsters, damn it’s a fun little bike and it sounds good. I did not like it at first, as it felt like it was just a baby SF. Still a great fun bike, that is entry level and perfect for commuting in urban areas.
Ducati did that, made an engine that hopefully becomes a durable proven platform, while utilizing across a variety of models simplifying the needed tools and parts to maintain them.
What I am disappointed with is the shift to Thailand for assembly. While I thought they would have had this already addressed with the Scrambler line being made in Thailand, I am concerned with some of the minor discrepancies I’ve seen. Two out of three Panigales had incorrect or missing components and hardware.
I do
like the packaging the Thailand facilites utilize! No longer a bunch of parts in a bag. A blister pack with the installation items by part number! Makes it easy to pull up a part if your unfamiliar with that unit and ensure complete assembly of the motorcycle as part of the PDI process!
So, as they go through their refinement process, do give your V2 models a thorough inspection and report any mistakes or missing items to your dealer. Hoping to see this new line become a great future for Ducatis availability to more riders.
