Car: 2020 Ford Ranger PXIII (FX4 edition) 3.2L 5cyl Auto. 149000km.
Purchased second hand from a dealer last year (8 months ago), bought the optional extended dealer’s warranty. NRA is “platinum plus” with $8000 limit per claim, with total claim limit being the purchase price of the car.
Basically the car fucked itself 3 days ago. Revs slowed down, engine was thumping around and wobbling, and smoke started to build up in the cabin. Pulled over straight away. See the attached video.
Now, I’m wondering first of all what could be wrong. Disclaimer; I’m not mechanically inclined at all, so I don’t really know what could be wrong. There’s an aftermarket fabulous fabrications air box, and a torqit throttle controller which may be important bits of information.
Secondly, regardless of what’s specifically wrong, if the car is beyond repair, do I have a case to get a full refund? It’s within warranty (serviced within the last year and has not yet met the 15k km requirement). I was thinking via consumer law definitions, this would constitute a major failure.
