Yasmin has attracted a huge amount of negative attention because of her involvement in an MLM. Personally, I could’ve got behind her if it wasn’t for that, I have no sympathy for people who make money through what is a scam.

What’s interesting is that Love Island has had contestants in previous series who reportedly had partners shortly before entering the villa, and production has rarely seemed eager to highlight it. Yet with Tommy and Yasmin, they actually just fully brought it into the discourse.

My guess is that the backlash surrounding Yasmin’s MLM controversy made producers wary of having them as finalists (or potential winners, but I don’t think they are potential winners tbf). Once they realised public opinion had turned, they may have decided to steer the edit in a different direction. I’ve also heard claims that Yasmin herself had a partner shortly before the show, although I don’t know how accurate those rumours are.

Of course, it’s also possible the producers simply thought the storyline made good TV rather than trying to stop them from winning.

What do you think? Was production deliberately trying to weaken Tommy and Yasmin as a couple, or am I reading too much into it?

Watching the Priya and Aiden coupling play out has been fascinating. While I think their pairing is partly one of convenience, I'd argue Priya actually prefers Aiden to Ethan because Aiden holds a higher social standing within the group.

Social hierarchy seems to matter a lot to the contestants this year, but especially to Priya. Even the whole "bringing back Jordan for Jasmine" suggestion feels telling. I don't think Jasmine would've proposed that for any other islander. It suggests Priya rather have social standing than someone who's genuinely all in for her, regardless of what she claims to want.
