[Fudge-Lite] Star Wars: The Haunting of Imperial 14

Good evening,

I'm a GM transitioning to PbP for the very first time (though I've GM'd live sessions), and I've thought of no better way to dip my toes into this wonderful world than with a setting I hold dear to my heart: Star Wars.

This will be a short-running game for approximately three to four players, as we dive into the Mothership module: The Haunting of Ypsilon 14. The module has been modified and homebrewed to fit both the Star Wars setting and to work with the Fudge-Lite system (a free ruleset available here).

No prior experience of the module or rule system is required. Fudge-Lite is very easy to pick up, and you may enjoy Ypsilon 14 more if you are unfamiliar with the mystery at hand.

So what is this actually about?

A crew of Imperials (the party) are sent to deliver physical orders to science officer Dr Ethan Giovanni. The station he is working on, Imperial 14, is a small mining outpost on the edges of the unknown regions. The station has lost communications with nearby Imperial systems, and it's up to the party to deliver the orders and restore communication if necessary.

This game takes place sometime before the original Saga, roughly coinciding with Star Wars: Andor

Playing as the Empire

Players of this game will be carrying out the orders of the Empire, but that doesn't have to mean you're all Imperial Officers or even loyalists. The more interesting the characters, the better. While all party members must have a reason for undertaking this task, there's no reason that they all have the same motivation. Feel free to create rebel spies, Ewoks kept as pets, warcriminal astromechs, Dr Giovanni's worried sister, a young boy accompanying his father to work, as long as we can make it fit.

The Players I'm Looking For

I'm looking for friendly players who enjoy the setting and are interested in creating a welcoming, collaborative environment. This is a short game, and while I fancy myself an aspiring writer, I am not Dickens, and I don't expect you to be either.

The Future

This adventure is intended to be a proof of concept to familiarise myself with running PbP games. It is my future intention to start a longer-term campaign using the fudge-lite rule system. Players from this adventure may be offered a place in a future campaign if and when one materialises. But please, if you have no interest in a longer campaign, still feel free to join this shorter adventure.

A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far Far Away...

STAR WARS: The Haunting of Imperial 14

At the furthest edge of the galaxy, there is nothing but vast darkness and isolated rocks. Here, there are not trillions, not even millions, but only thousands of lifeforms. Most of them are brigands, pirates, and mindless creatures; this is the very frontier of the Empire. A jagged, blurry line between order and chaos.

Imperial 14 is an Imperial Mining station lodged into the red-coloured stone of an asteroid. Still, in the early days of its development, it is home to nothing more than a small surveying crew and the science officer Dr Ethan Giovanni. Giovanni is a rumoured friend of Grand Moff Tarkin who has taken an unnatural interest in Imperial 14. Weeks ago, the ISB forwarded new orders to Dr Giovanni only to find that both the man and the station itself were unreachable via normal communications. A small team has been hand-selected by Tarkin's top lieutenants to venture to Imperial 14 and physically deliver an encrypted order to Giovanni.

You have an aversion to the datapad in your hands. Shivers run up your arms, and hairs stand on end. The mission seems simple, but there's something about the isolation that unnerves you. This is not a request you can deny, no matter how much your mind screams with anxiety. In the dark, shadows whisper, and in the unknown regions, there is nothing but darkness.
