LCT: MEMENTO MORI - Closed Limbus Company-based Campaign (TFT)

>Set in a alternate world where Limbus Company never came to be, and the Smoke War shaked off differently than expected... a different Company has taken its place - with different goals, and new stakes.

>You are employees of the budding corporation Lugeo Company*, a promising star headed by a rich, anonymous benefactor. One way or another, the Company scouted you out - be it because of your unique skills, your knowledge, your combat prowess, or something else - and made you a job offer that felt too good to be true, but too tempting to deny.

>You signed the contract in a heartbeat, either compelled by its rewards or because you had little else left in life for you. However, you weren't told the details. You don't know why exactly they wanted you, you can guess, but you don't know - you don't even know much about your coworkers, or your new employers. All you know is that you have now been labeled an Acolyte of the company's Train Department... and that you've all suffered a great misfortune.

>The Company is promising it all back, if you get them what they want*. Which is retrieving powerful items known as the Golden Boughs, hidden in fragments all across the city - sought after by far more dangerous and powerful factions than your own. There is no other choice but to go forward with your word. It's this, or nothing at all.

>So go ahead, Acolytes.

LCT: MEMENTO MORI is a westmarches campaign set in an alternate universe of Limbus Company. This game is directly based on Project Moon's Limbus Company and its setting, with only slight variations and rewrites. While this is a fandom-based campaign, knowledge of the original content is not required to apply!

Number of Players: 13 total, looking for 6 more players. Currently 6/6 slots open.

[5e 2025] Enrolling at the magic academy (18+ only)

After being accepted to the prestigious academy of Fine Magical Arts you instantly set out to the town of Goodcross along the verdant Pink River in the valley of dense forest and fishing villages. While the caravan on which now find yourself was not initially how you expected your new life to begin the promise of the academy gets ever closer. Still there is so much to do from acquiring your uniform to moving into your lodgings. Do you come from a rich family able to afford the monthly payments or will you need to find work to sustain yourself? Are you a bookworm excited for classes on alchemy and magic theory or are you more interested in magical duels and monstrous creatures?

This game will be more of a sandbox and slice of life game with the players making decisions on what they wish to do and how. There will be some plot of course but I am looking for players who wish to make their own stories. While inspired by Strixhaven this is my own homebrew world which is probably a bit more low magic than the official setting.

Personally I think 2 players is the perfect amount for a PBP game as it allows things to move quickly but can include 3 is the idea proves very popular. Overall people who are engaged and are able to reply a few times a day is what I am looking (I understand life can get busy but if days go by with no or poor replies it can cause the game to dry up. Likewise I am not looking to write a novel but more than 2 lines per response is what I hope for, though some scenes may not require as much of a response as others.

If you are interested feel free to send me a message- it works better than just commenting on the post.

[OD&D] [Discord] - Castle Schlagenhoff - 3 LBB OD&D Megadungeon

Recently, I've been running a game of Classic Traveller via play-by-post, and so far, it's been really enjoyable. I've found that running this game has been a great way to work through the "backlog" of gaming scenarios and adventure locales that I've written up over the years.

With the success of this first game in mind, I'd like to announce a second play-by-post, this one for Original Dungeons & Dragons. The purpose of this game is to open up my personal megadungeon to the general public. To quote one of the most evocative passages in all of the D&D rulebooks, this megadungeon was deliberately designed as the archetypical "huge ruined pile, a vast castle built by generations of mad wizards and insane geniuses".

Dare you brave the haunted halls of Castle Schlagenhoff, and the lightless caverns beneath? If you think you've got what it takes to delve into the depths, and re-emerge with blood on your sword and glittering treasure in hand, then send me a direct message.

I'll be running this game in my usual play-by-post style, where you just tell me what you want to do, and I'll handle all of the mechanics on my end. This'll be updated at a "one post per day" rate, those who've played in my games before know I like to run a fast-paced game.

[Discord][Genesys] Fallow Falls - Be a Ghost hunting team! Film a show at a haunted asylum and try not to die!

Fallow Falls: Asylum

>Deep in woods of Fallow Falls, lies its greatest shame: Kharloffweiss Asylum.
>
>It is said, that there is no place more haunted in the great Pacific Northwest, than this decrepit, weather worn place. Its great big windows, carved with marble flairs, weeps black grime like sod stained streaks of tears. Mossy grotesques watches over the place, long forgotten and still dutifully keeping their vigil on the encroaching forest where shadows seems to malinger with dreary pace at the very edge. > >It is a place with a single gravel road. Starting at the quaint, little town of Fallows Fall, it leads misguided souls up into the mountains, past its wrought, iron gates, and into its overgrown courtyard where the asylum waits patiently. > >It fucking sucks, that's what it does. Thankfully, it will soon reach unknown heights of internet fame when you and your crew of ghost hunters film an episode here. Sure, you have yet to capture any irrefutable proof of ghosts in your career, but, surely, this one will be it. Right?

What is this?

This is a horror one-shot using Genesys, with a touch of comedy - because it's likely inevitable, given the nature of improv. Players will be exploring an old, abandoned asylum, while filming their ghost hunter-esque show. Players will pick a job to go alongside their character. Specifically Camera Operator, Producer, Host, Sound guy, or Ghost Techie.

Think Grave Encounters, Blair Witch, and Paranormal Activity. Then stop thinking about Grave Encounters, please. I'll be stealing so much from that movie, so if you would kindly bury any prior knowledge somewhere dark and damp in your mind palace, I would appreciate that very much!

I don't believe this will last much longer than a month or two, but I've been wrong before!

I'm running this to learn Genesys, so if you don't know the system that's totally fine! Honestly, if anything, it'll make me feel better about getting stuff wrong. Join and we'll learn it together! From what I understand it's a narrative first sort of game (think Masks and Sentinels) while being less crunchy than others of its ilk (like Cypher and Sentinels).

It's the sort of system where everyone should want to tell a great story together, rather than trying to win and perform most optimal moves at every turn.

Who am I?

My name is Danni, trans everything, and in my thirties. I fucking love role-playing games. I love telling stories, and I've run a couple of games over PbP by now.

Mainly, I am looking for a new system to sink my teeth into. It should let me feel the thrill of Masks: A New Generation, without needing to find very specific people who can handle the systems demands. It should also not be Sentinels, because I've been playing Sentinels of the Multiverse for two fucking years now and I am going to lose my mind if I play another superhero game.

Who are you?

You must be willing to learn Genesys. No, really. You don't need to read and comprehend the book, but a willingness to read what is necessary from moment to moment. Questions are alright, but primarily, you should want to learn how to play this system. We'll be using the core book.

Genesys is easy to win. So you should also be a player who prefers telling a story, rather than someone wanting to go in and conquer the place. This also means you should find the act of coordinating and discussing things with other players interesting, at least to some degree. I prefer an emerging narrative over planning, but communication is still important.

You should be able to post at least once a day. As long as you get that one post in, be it long or short, you are quite alright in my book!

In Short

  • Post once a day.
  • Willing to learn Genesys with self-study.
  • More interested in story than winning.
  • Tupper (a post proxy) is mandatory.
    • If you don't know Tupper, don't worry. There'll be time to learn it, too.
  • Fan of Horror
    • No really, this is Grave Encounters. You need to like horror, otherwise why are you even looking at this post?
  • No AI generation allowed of any kind.
  • A desire to improvise. A lot.

Is this something for you? Then you should apply, using this form!

I'll begin looking at applications on the 7th and will update the post to reflect all players have been found.

A month ago, a few of you told me PbP tools are all built for the GM and leave the player as a spectator. I took that seriously and here's what came out of it.

A few weeks ago I posted here about RoleKey, the play-by-post platform I'm building. A few threads raised a point that turned out to be pretty important to me:

  • u/Maleficent-Rain7119 rightly pointed out that a good chunk of play-by-post people are just players, not necessarily GMs, so the platform should also host something for players, something like "what happened in the games I play in while I was away?"
  • u/Deep_Ad1959 raised an important point: a GM uses a given tool to make their own work easier, but a player chooses it for a single, narrative purpose. And a world doesn't survive unless players come back to visit it on their own, without you having to keep prompting them.

So, with those ideas in mind, here's what I built:

1. A player identity: I'll be straight about the limit first: a character does not travel between worlds, and if a world gets deleted, its characters go with it. You know, a character built on one world's races, rules and setting is meaningless in another. What I built instead is one level up, where portability actually makes sense: you, the player. You get a real profile (avatar, bio, interests, the characters you're currently playing across different worlds, your history on the forum and so on) so instead of being an anonymous handle inside someone else's server, you're a person a GM can actually look at: how you write, what you've played, whether you'd fit their table. The character still belongs to its world. But you stop being disposable the second you walk out of one. And every profile has its own visibility controls: you decide whether to show all of it, part of it, or nothing at all.

2. A home that opens on your games: When you log in you land on your own worlds, the ones you run and the ones you just play in, together on one page instead of a global directory. And above them sits a "what's new while you were away" digest: not a generic unread dot, but the actual changes per world (like new threads, new lore, new characters) so you can see what moved without opening each game to check. That last part is the one thing Discord can't give you

3. The gamification I killed, and the kind I kept: My instinct was classic gamification: word-count streaks, "you wrote 12k words this month," currencies you earn just by writing. Some of you told me not to, and you were right: rewarding volume punishes the player who writes 200 brilliant words a week and keeps a whole scene alive. So that whole idea is gone. What's left is not tied to how much you write: a few cosmetics and milestone-style achievements ("played in a world," "ran your first game," "been around a while"), nothing that touches the actual scene

Anyway, I'm not posting a feature list to show off. This is where the player side stands right now: it works, but there's more coming and I'm still filling in corners. So I've got a question for the players here:

What's the one thing that would make a player's home page actually worth opening between sessions?

Not whether you'd open it, but what would have to be on it. I built this whole side on the bet that a player should have a reason to come back that isn't just "the GM posted." I'd rather hear from people who've played this way for years what that reason actually looks like, before I keep building on a guess.

[Dnd5e][PbP] Interest check for villian themed game (Sands of Doom)

Welcome to the desert of Kirat where you get to play the villains(as monsters of course). You might be a ruthless Gnoll, coniving succubus, a brute ogre, or just about anything. Whatever your story, one thing is true. Lord Ammu is rising, and he is coming for you. His armies sweep across the desert, burning cities, shattering fortresses, and hunting down every warlord, cult, or little village that wont bend to him. Your people are being slaughtered, enslaved, or driven into the sands untill there is no choice left. You can submit and survive, or be crushed beneath the heels of a Necrarch Mummy Lord.

The campaign begins with each of you backed into a corner as Lord Ammu forces you into his service, via coercion or direct threat. From there, follow the rough adventure and explore the open sandbox (haha get it). You can become his most feared champions, or the warriors who defeat him.

The desert of Kirat offers an open sandbox with time gated events and a fully explorable world. You race against the clock as Ammu tries to gather relics, and the warden city of Al'Kirat thrashes against its own death. Save or destroy the city. Play as a monster. Shenangians ensue.

~~

Hey nerds, as work and life slows down I am looking to fill the gaps with more dnd because I truly do not have enough. MrRhexx has written a beautiful setting and one that I would love to explore. Using a module like this allows me to relax and focus on running while letting the players drive the narrative. It uses a sort of 'Doom Clock' to progress things in the background and prevent DM burnout !

In payment for allowing me to be lazy, i ALSO wish to use MrRhexx's Monster Classes! He has made a wopping total of 5 different books with various monster races and classes! I will supply all PDFs, you only need to supply a killer backstory and good entertainment.

This is overall a rough interest check and not anything hard and fast. Id be looking for 4 to 5 different players to hang out, play DnD and otherwise have a good time. This game would not be starting for another week or so and I'll leave the post up till then.

As for the NSFW tag, this is inevitably a villain themed game, I would like to tackle the more dark side of DnD. Consider a gnoll eating humanoids, a skeletal lord slaughtering a village for more soldiers, devils for soul snatching, and of course, the total end goal of the party to rule the desert in total subjugation. Feel free to bring your evil ideas ya know? Anyway, here's the master list of classes to help.

Ghost

Succubus

Deva

Dragon

Ogre

Lycanthrope

Familiar

Treant

Vampire

Mind Lord

Eye Tyrant

Serpentfolk

Earth Elemental

Gnoll

A Grim Tale [D&D 2014/2024 5e][21+][NSFW][Play-by-Post] Looking For Players To Take A Darker Adventure!

“The world does not care if you survive. The question is what remains of you when it is finished.”

Greetings Travelers,

I am looking for a small group of players interested in a long-term, roleplay-first, play-by-post D&D 5e grimdark fantasy campaign.

If you are looking for a heroic dungeon crawl where the party always wins, evil is clearly defined, and the world bends around your character’s importance, this will likely not be the game for you.

This is a campaign about desperate people surviving in a cruel world filled with war, hunger, corruption, monsters, faith, betrayal, disease, exploitation, and horrors that do not always grant the mercy of death.

Think Berserk, Goblin Slayer, Darkest Dungeon, Fear & Hunger, and grounded medieval horror fantasy.

The Setting

The campaign takes place in a harsh fantasy world where civilization survives by inches, not miles.

Kingdoms rot from within, noble houses sell their honor for power, and churches preach salvation while hiding graves beneath their floors; villages simply vanish from maps; monsters stalk the roads; and Mercenary companies, cults, bandits, corrupt lords, and worse prey upon those too weak to resist.

Magic exists, but it is not clean or safe. Divine power may answer prayers, but gods are distant, silent, or cruel. Ancient ruins promise treasure, but they also carry curses, madness, and truths mortals were never meant to know.

From afar, the world may still look beautiful: candlelit cathedrals, ancient castles, misty forests, harvest festivals, noble courts, and songs of heroes long dead.

Then you step off the main road and see the truth.

  • Someone’s child was taken last night.
  • Someone’s village paid tribute to monsters to survive winter.
  • Someone sold their soul for food.
  • Someone came back from the woods changed.
  • Someone begged for death and was denied it.

That is the world I want to explore: beauty, horror, hope, despair, faith, corruption, and the people caught somewhere in between.

The Story

This is not a campaign about saving the world; this world may already be too broken for that.

This is a campaign about surviving it, changing within it, and deciding what lines your character will cross before the end.

Your characters are not legendary heroes at the beginning. They are people with wounds, debts, fears, desires, sins, loyalties, and reasons to keep going.

You might be:

  • A disgraced knight trying to reclaim honor.
  • A peasant who survived something no one believes.
  • A hedge mage hiding from the church.
  • A sellsword drowning guilt in coin and blood.
  • A runaway noble hunted by their own family.
  • A priest whose faith is cracking.
  • A survivor of a massacre who wants revenge.
  • A thief trying to buy freedom.
  • A monster hunter who fears becoming worse than the things they kill.

Everyone starts somewhere, and in this campaign, that “somewhere” is not glory. But rather it is mud, hunger, fear, debt, grief, and desperation.

Before the party fully comes together, we will spend time grounding each character in the world: their life, relationships, fears, flaws, obligations, and reasons to continue. The group will then be brought together through circumstances that feel natural rather than forced.

You may play multiple characters over the course of the campaign due to death, retirement, corruption, capture, hiatus, or story reasons, but you may only actively play up to two characters at any given time.

What I’m Looking For

More than anything, I want players who enjoy becoming their characters.

I want people who love conversations as much as combat. Players who message each other after a battle because their characters need to talk. Players who build relationships, rivalries, romances, grudges, loyalties, fears, and complicated histories without waiting for the GM to hand them everything.

Some of the best roleplay does not happen during combat.

  • It happens around a dying campfire after a terrible victory.
  • It happens when the cleric admits their prayers feel empty.
  • It happens when the fighter cannot sleep after what they did.
  • It happens when the rogue finally tells someone the truth.
  • It happens when the party argues over whether mercy was weakness.
  • It happens when someone realizes that survival costs them something they cannot get back.

Those are the moments I am here for.

Morality

I do not expect your characters to be heroes.

In fact, I would rather they were not clean, perfect, or untouched by the world.

This setting produces survivors, zealots, cowards, martyrs, killers, liars, saints, monsters, and people who are not sure which one they are becoming.

Your character may do terrible things. They may lie, steal, kill, betray, sacrifice, abandon, or compromise their morals to survive.

What matters is that those choices feel earned.

I am not interested in random murder, pointless cruelty, or “that’s what my character would do” as an excuse to derail the game or make things miserable for other players.

If your character crosses a line, there should be a reason behind it.

Their choices should come from who they are, what they have endured, what they fear, what they love, and what they are trying to protect or achieve.

In this campaign, your choices matter.

  • Your reputation matters.
  • Your relationships matter.
  • Your faith matters.
  • Your sanity matters.
  • Your soul matters.

Mature Themes, ERP, and NSFW Content

This is an 18+ campaign.

This world contains many of the darkest elements of humanity and fantasy horror.

The campaign may include violence, gore, torture, body horror, psychological horror, slavery, exploitation, abuse, corruption, religious extremism, war crimes, starvation, disease, madness, sexual themes, romance, ERP, and consequences worse than death.

These themes are not included for shock value or smut for the sake of smut.

They exist because this is a grimdark world where evil is ugly, suffering has weight, and survival can leave scars deeper than death.

ERP exists in the campaign, but it is optional and must be consensual between all involved players. Explicit ERP will be handled in private channels only. Public channels will use implication, aftermath, emotional framing, or fade-to-black where appropriate.

This is not meant to blur player and character boundaries. I do expect applicants to be comfortable with their characters experiencing horrifying encounters that one should never wish upon another, whether fade-to-black or roleplayed by player consent.

This is not a space to harass players, pressure people, or use “in character” behavior as an excuse for out-of-character misconduct. Anyone who does so will be removed.

This is intended to be a safe space to explore more mature and darker elements of life that we wouldn’t wish to encounter in real life and how one survives and overcomes them. It is not meant to encourage, promote, or glorify behaviors taken by the creatures of the world.

There will be mechanics provided within the form that will cover over all of the core mechanics expanded upon for this section of play, I have converted some of it into text cause the original PDF is very “suggestive art” heavy and VERY NSFW.

Before joining, all applicants will complete a form covering expectations, boundaries, content comfort, Lines & Veils, NSFW preferences, and safety tools. This campaign will not have many hard restrictions by default, so it is important that players understand what kind of game they are applying for before joining.

Rules

We will be using D&D 5e 2014 and 2024, with house rules designed to support a slower, grittier, more grounded fantasy experience.

This will not feel like a standard heroic fantasy campaign.

The ruleset will include adjustments for things such as:

  • Gritty rests.
  • Downtime progression.
  • Lingering consequences.
  • Sanity and corruption.
  • Injuries and recovery.
  • Travel and survival.
  • Relationship development.
  • Reputation.
  • Slower pacing.
  • ERP Mechanics
  • More grounded character growth.

The goal is not to make the game miserable or punish players for existing but rather they exist to make the world feel dangerous, natural, and consequential.

Combat should feel like something characters survive, not something they casually farm for experience.

Downtime matters. Travel matters. Rest matters. Wounds matter. Food, coin, shelter, allies, reputation, and trust all matter.

Your character will grow through more than leveling. They may train, study, heal, break, recover, build bonds, lose faith, find purpose, or become something they never expected.

Play-by-Post

This is an asynchronous play-by-post campaign.

I work full-time, so there will be times when I cannot immediately respond as GM.

That does not mean the roleplay stops.

One of my biggest philosophies with PbP is that idle typing is the death of a campaign.

If the party is waiting on combat, travel, or a GM post, characters can still speak by the fire, tend wounds, pray, argue, write letters, train, confess fears, seek comfort, share food, or sit in silence after something terrible happened.

I want the world to feel alive throughout the week, not only when I post.

The players should create stories together just as often as I create stories for them.

Who This Game Is For

You will probably enjoy this campaign if you:

  • Love deep character roleplay.
  • Enjoy collaborative storytelling more than “winning.”
  • Want your backstory to matter.
  • Enjoy slow-burn character development.
  • Like moral ambiguity and meaningful consequences.
  • Enjoy setbacks as much as victories.
  • Can handle uncomfortable themes maturely.
  • Want relationships with the party to matter.
  • Enjoy grounded fantasy horror.
  • Are comfortable with adult themes being discussed.
  • Want downtime, travel, wounds, fear, and survival to matter.
  • Are interested in exploring what a character becomes under pressure.

This is not a power fantasy.

This is not a game where the party becomes untouchable legends overnight.

This is not a campaign where the world exists to praise your character.

But if you want to spend months telling the story of broken, desperate, flawed people trying to survive a world that devours the weak…

I would love to hear from you.

Here is the forum link. Please set aside time to read through it carefully. I went in-depth on expectations and alignment intentionally, because this kind of campaign requires everyone to understand what they are agreeing to before play begins: https://forms.gle/NvSzkfZ1Y5jNFjR39

[Discord][Async][Voidheart Symphony][LGBTQIA+] Age of Oblivion

EDIT 1: wowza that's a lot of you!! i think i'll probably leave applications up until end of day on July 4th/early July 5th (pacific daylight timezone), so if you're interested please submit before then :]

EDIT 2: i'm closing the form now! i'd leave it up longer but there's already so many responses. i will be contacting my chosen players via discord later tonight or early tomorrow, depending on how long it takes me to make my decisions, there Are a lot of you and i've enjoyed reading every application i've received so i've got my work cut out for me!!

--

There's a wound in the world, and nobody cares. Starving kids, drone strikes, hate campaigns - all just the way things are.

You don’t see it like that. Maybe you’re juggling debts to survive. Maybe you’re terrified of being outed. Maybe you can’t or won’t hide any more. Maybe you just can’t ignore the suffering.

But really it's because you've SEEN the wound - eerie doorways into a nightmare castle of twisting halls and terrible monsters. Worse, it latches onto the worst person around. Its horrors haunt their enemies. Its halls reflect their desires. Its shadows shield them from justice.

But, so what? Powerful assholes hurting others is nothing new. You're used to fighting for respect, for survival, for your community. You'll gather friends, raid that castle, steal its power, and show that predator how quickly they fall without eldritch backing.

What next? Will you go back to the grind? Hold close to your loved ones? Or learn how to use the power you stole? Because the wound is still there, and your city's full of bastards hungry for the castle's power.

They might call you crazy, naive, criminals. but they're the ones who rigged society so that they always win. You’re going to burn their system to ashes, and build a world they could never imagine.

(Voidheart Symphony, Page 1)

--

Hey there! I'm looking to run a Voidheart Symphony campaign for 3-4 players and want to gauge interest + put together a party, if enough people are interested.

VS is a system built on the Powered by the Apocalypse framework, surrounding a group of ordinary people who discover a mysterious alternate reality that empowers and feeds on the evils of our world. If you've played Persona 5, it's like that. If you haven't, you're basically beating up villains in their weird mind palaces using what I can only describe as magical girl transformations and special powers. (Also, go play Persona 5.)

It is a more narrative focused system than something like D&D is - minmaxing/powergaming aren't really a thing in the traditional sense. Failing is not necessarily a bad thing - PBtA systems generally adhere to the philosophy of "failing forward" and opening up new doors when others close.

Experience with the system is not required. I've got access to the core rulebook and can help out wherever necessary. Though there are more mechanics than a lot of PBtA games on the market, they're all pretty simple to understand, and in the end the game is much more focused on the narrative than the number crunching of it all.

The story will be divided into arcs, in which your rebels are investigating a real-world villain empowered by the castle and working to take them down in the other world, while also balancing that with their mundane lives, nurturing relationships, and taking care of themselves. It is a heavily character and player driven game - character-driven in that there's a huge emphasis on how your characters affect and are affected by the world around them, and player-driven in the sense that collaboration between the GM and the players is fundamental to the way the system works.

I have not established a setting - we'll be doing that together. This system relies on everyone, players included, contributing to the world and adding people, places, and things that make it feel alive and fun to play in.

Some ground rules that I'd like to make clear:

- My post frequency will probably be about once or twice a day. I'd like players to be able to post at a similar rate.

- I'll only be accepting 18+ players. Sorry to those of you who are younger, I've been there, but this game may delve into mature subject matter that I wouldn't feel comfortable engaging in with minors around, since the ethics of that can get murky.

- That being said: there will be no graphic/NSFW content in this game. We will always fade to black if things start heading in that direction. Consensual romance and intimacy between PCs or between PCs/NPCs is fine by me, as long as everyone involved is cool with it.

- This is a game heavily centered on addressing and condemning systemic abuses and the ways in which modern society fails, harms, and exploits people. There are lines I won't cross in terms of what I depict "on screen", but this system operates on confronting the world's evils. It'll always be critically depicted and never endorsed, but it will need to be depicted in order for the rebels to be able to fight against it. If that's not your preferred kind of escapist fantasy, I totally understand, but this game might not be your thing if so.

- Again, that being said: this is not an excuse for anyone to engage in said evils above the table. Your characters can have some of these biases and flaws to overcome if that's part of the story you want to tell, but real-world bigotry and general assholeishness is not welcome, period. I myself am a queer and disabled person, and I want the table to be a safe and friendly space for everyone. Don't bother applying if you have a problem with that.

- No AI at the table. That means no AI generated art, and absolutely no AI generated roleplay/characters. If you slip up and accidentally use an AI generated image for a character reference or something, that's fine, mistakes happen. And do what you want outside of the game, I'm not a cop. But I do not want AI involved in this game above the table at all.

- Just in case anyone is familiar with the system: I'll be running it largely rules as written, maybe with a change or two here and there if we decide we really hate a rule or something. I probably won't be allowing the Captive playbook, purely because it confuses me a bit, but we can work something out if it really calls to you.

If you've managed to read all this and are still interested, send in an application here! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfkj57Z7auke_eP--oxG9pM11ILqSIYPA1OdzkWRvXxmU8Kfg/viewform?usp=dialog

I have tried to make the application as painless as possible, and because I know it's often a pain point for a lot of people on here, I have not asked for a writing sample. However, this does mean that my only impression of your writing and communication ability will be from your application responses, so keep that in mind. I'm not looking for novelists, but I'm also not looking for quick one-liners either - more power to you if that's your playstyle, it's just not mine.

I don't know how much interest I'll get, given the relatively niche system and the text wall I've just unleashed, but I'll update this post one day before closing, when I close it, and when I've chosen my players.

Threads Undone (Play-By-Post) (DND 5.5e 2024) (Discord)

WE ARE LOOKING FOR ONE PLAYER DUE TO A DROPOUT!! We just started, but we're happy to work someone in!!

This is a game inspired by shoujo and josei manhwa tropes with villainesses, saintesses, and scheming popes, wars of succession, hostage princesses, dukes of the North, faraway gods and dragons, and a lot of court drama. It’s a regression-inspired campaign that takes manhwa tropes and turns them into a campaign. There will be hunting festivals. Technology? You've got a cell phone powered by runes, armored knights, and medieval warfare, and regency style balls and dating.

Premise: It's the year 1508 in the Kingdom of Sinoe. You had a life then, didn’t you? Right there in the heart of the capital city of Mauri, where the royal palace and grand temple cast shadows over you. You were flesh, bone, blood, and alive. You think it was a spring night in a city square where it felt like time stood still. You and four other people came to a stop to watch a comet, bright and red and bloody, light the sky above you. Each of you came from different lives, had different dreams, and somewhere along the line, it all began to go wrong. You see, your life is measured in threads, and whether it was a few months, a few years, or even a few decades later, your thread was snapped ahead of its time. It may have been painful and ugly, it may have been quick and clean, but oblivion came for you all the same. You died. Or so you thought. It’s that spring night in the city square again. You see the same people, the same comet, and for a moment, everything that happened to you feels like a dream. But it wasn’t. You can vividly recall and feel your last moments, but everything else seems missing from your memory. But now your heart is beating again. You are alive.
You don't know how, but the gods have given you a second chance. What will you make of it?

The Last Threads is a regression D&D campaign where your character returns to life right before the coronation of the new king. Your choices will decide how to change your fate or if you will make the same mistakes over again as your memories begin to resurface. The Fates and Death each watch. I will weave your backstories into the fabric of the campaign. While regression is a critical theme, you won't be pidgeonholed into repeats of the past. Only big picture events will be death flags. You’ll have memories surface sometimes, but that’s for roleplay.

There will be political intrigue, as well as manhwa tropes. Expect to flesh out your characters and work with the DM on character creation in order to best place you into the story. Much of it will revolve around the royal court, the grand temple, and the mage tower in the capital.

This is a TEXT-ONLY campaign! Please be able to post at least once a day! Message me, and I’ll send you our DM’s discord! Please be prepared for some questions about your play/roleplay, and also have a writing sample ready! Thank you! Hope to hear from you!

Looking for a system

Hi! I'm looking to run my first pbp campaign with a group of friends, but I'm having trouble finding a system. I'm looking for something:

- that works well in pbp

- low to medium complexity

- supports classic fantasy

- is balanced

- is narrative focused, but still allows combat

And I was wondering if any of you people know about anything?

[Online][5e 2024]Looking for a player interested in a sandbox game.

I am looking for something perhaps more typical DnD fantasy. In the world magic is not something most common people will ever experience save for the occasional monster attack or stumbling upon lost ruins if they stray too far. However, in the main town of this game there is a magic academy though the students will be wealthy and sparse. Equally, in this town, power is split between the Guilds and the Temple. The area around the town is also predominantly desert though verdant nature sprouts along the river. Who you play to explore this world is pretty open as I love discussing character ideas.

I am looking for a player interested in a PBP sandbox game with different quests and scenarios. Given you are the only player what character you make means we can make a particular story based upon that though I have some ideas as well.

I have been DMing for over a decade both for both live and PBP games and would describe myself as a DM that enjoys including player engagement through backstory and world building. Given that this is a PBP game someone who is able to write in a pretty grammatically correct manner is appreciated. I am not looking to write a novel but poor grammar does ruin the flow and enjoyment. Likewise writing more than two lines per response is appreciated though I know some scenes may not require as much writing as others.

Absolutely no AI for replies or any refs (I am happy to use refs but please make human made art)

Gangland Meets Supernatural (MotW)

Hi! I’m a longtime player and first time keeper, the other day while playing through Arkham Knight I had an idea for a MotW game pitting organized crime in a war for the city against monstrous forces and the underfunded agency tasked with keeping the city from being destroyed in the war.

If this sounds interesting, shoot me a dm!

I’m Ellie (she/her) and I’m open to any questions yall might have!

Just don’t apply if you’re a bigot or use AI or aren’t cool with using the standard playbooks!

[Stars of the City] Lazarus Company, a Limbus Company inspired campaign | Sundays at 6:00 pm EST [LIVE TEXT]

==========

Pulled under the embrace of death, all that you have strived for... all that you've suffered through... all to end up as one of the countless corpses in the City... Yet, death is not the end for you as you might have expected. Long after your last breath, oxygen once again enters your lungs and you reawaken anew as something new; a Revenant...

Revived by the Lazarus Company, bypassing the City's taboo somehow, you have been given a choice; join the company's Revenant Department and the company will aid you in that which you desire most. Or, decline and return to the soil and let your story end. With no choice other than the path forward, we welcome you into the LCR.

Your journey begins in District 12 of the City, within the backstreets of Lobotomy Corporation where the company has its first job for you...

==========

Welcome to Lazarus Company! In this game, you will take on the role of a Revenant in the LCR (Lazarus Company Revenant department). Though you have died in the past, it was only a temporary setback as you have been brought back to the living with the goal of finishing what you couldn't originally, so long as you continue to work for the company.

Along the way, you will be tasked with a variety of jobs from exploration, distortion/abnormality suppression, and the most important of all; the acquirement of the Golden Boughs that the company seeks the most.

Most importantly, the game will have more than a few 'Cantos' or story chapters that focus heavily on the stories of one or more of your player characters at a time, giving them a chance to face their past and traumas and learn to grow from it. Not everything will be successful, sometimes you will face failure and be thrown into the abyss. In that abyss, your mettle will be tested and whether you can climb out of it is up to you... Do you falter or do you ascend?

==========

Due to the nature of this game, expect to tackle some heavy topics that may be triggering for some. If topics of mental health, abuse, gore, and many more such topics make you uncomfortable then this might not be the game for you.

This campaign will also be very STORY driven. While there will be more than plenty of combat encounters, they exist to serve the plot and further character development as opposed to being for the sake of hitting stuff (at least most of the time).

As a reminder; this is a LIVE TEXT game, not a PBP. We will be playing on Foundry and making use of a discord server to organize between WEEKLY sessions.

Lastly: Characters in this campaign as REVENANTS, meaning you are playing characters who have died in the past and have now been revived by the company. As such, the death of your character should be part of your backstory. Each of your characters will also be 'weakened' after the revival, so you were originally a legendary fixer of some renown in your previous life, now you're akin to a level 1 fixer. Feel free to get a bit wild with it!

==========

A bit of an intro for your DM!

Heya, I've been a DM for just under a decade now and have ran games in various systems and various settings. The majority of my experience is with D&D5e, but I've played other systems such as Pathfinder/Starfinder, Stars Without Number, Dark Heresy, Shadow of the Demon Lord, Fabula Ultima, and a few others I can't remember.

I tend to run with the idea of story and characters at the front of the game as opposed to back to back combat encounters. That's not to say there will be only a few encounters, there will be more than plenty of fights for you to flex your characters against. When the players are selected, I plan to work with the each of you individually to make an in depth backstory for your character, one that can fit in the setting and can impact the plot immensely. The story will be yours entirely, but with some input on my part to help it fit just that bit more.

The VAST majority of my games tend to be entirely custom made, usually with custom races, classes, and backgrounds for systems like D&D as opposed to running modules with the standard character options. I like to add to the systems I play to give them more 'spice' and am more than willing to work with players to make some new homebrew.

==========

Sessions will be at 6:00 PM EST on Sundays

Link to System: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BnU-VNWkLPjhtYfSfpaErkzdUd_LYk2deGrSQgsatXk/edit?tab=t.0

There will more than likely be homebrew additions to the core rules to give plenty of expanded character options. For now, the core book will be fine.

[5e] Looking for players for a completely DM-less Oracle sandbox!

hey guys!! i made a discussion post about 12 hours ago and im super excited to officially try starting a fully co-op, completely DM-less game!

basically we’ll all be players controlling our own characters, and we'll use an Oracle / tools like the solo adventurer's toolbox to handle the world, the twists, and the NPC responses. since there’s no DM, we'll all take turns interpreting what the system throws at us!

i’ll be acting as the "mod" or coordinator just to help keep the world cohesion together and settle any narrative disputes so it doesn't turn into total chaos anarchy lol.

to be totally honest, idk how we would do combat yet 😔 nor do i have any world lore built up, but i feel like we can all brainstorm it together and figure it out as a group before we start!

the details:

System: D&D 5e

Platform: Discord pbp

Posting Rate: at least once a day

if you want to join a super collaborative, experimental game and help brainstorm a world together, please message me or leave a comment with a bit about yourself and your character ideas! :3

[Discord][5e 2024][Avrae][Homebrew] Argos, the Lost Lands

EDIT: Alrighty, I'm closing applications! Thank you all for your interest! It was hard to pick players, but I think I found the ones I'd like to have. If any of them drop out or anything, I'll be sure to go back and see who's already applied to see if they'd like to replace that player. Be on the lookout for a friend request on Discord from LDS_Boi!

The gods abandoned Argos long ago.

In their absence, humanity clawed its way forward. Magic became a distant memory—rare and untamable. But where divine power failed, mortal ingenuity thrived. From the ashes of the old world rose magitek: complex machinery that harnessed the dregs of magic left over from creation itself, bending reality through gears and equations rather than prayer and sacrifice.

For a time, it seemed humanity had won. Disease retreated. Hunger faded. The great cities gleamed with brass and light

But something is wrong.

A rot spreads through Argos, invisible yet inescapable. Shadows gather in forgotten places. Old hatreds flare like wildfire. Nations that stood as allies for generations now eye each other with suspicion. In the halls of power, politicians trade insults that edge toward declarations of war. Even families fracture—brother against sister, parent against child.

No one can say when it started. No one knows why.

But everyone feels it: a pressure building behind the eyes, a voice whispering in the dark corners of the mind, urging anger, demanding blood.

Howdy y'all! I'm excited to try DMing a campaign in a homebrew setting I've been working on for a while! I have about *checks document* 80 pages of notes and lore for the setting. I quite enjoy it, and I hope y'all do too!

Anyways, the premise is that the party starts out on earth, but very quickly gets transported to Argos. Once there, they get thrown right into the thick of things kinda get to learn about the world and plot stuff naturally at their own pace, so I don't want to give out too many spoilers.

My goal is to gather a group of people who are fairly active and can post a few times per day. I've found that groups that can post a little more often are those that end up lasting longer than a week, and part of my goal is for this to be a long-term campaign. I've got lots of ideas that I'd to infli--I mean, share with my players.

As for some general stuff, the setting is fairly low-magic, though there is a bunch of steampunk-ish equipment that offset it. It's a fairly average fantasy setting, though there is a large plot that the characters will gradually uncover, but it will be up to them if they want to engage with it at all.

The campaign will be hosted on Discord, and characters will be made on DnDBeyond. I have content sharing unlocked, and I have most of the character options on there. We will use 2014 rules, and we'll use Roll20 for combat. We'll also be using Tupper and Avrae to help us out on Discord, but if you haven't used them before, that's totally fine!

Something I want to try out is using XP instead of milestone advancement. While I won't quite be granting XP for every post you make, the more you interact with the story and stuff, the more XP you'll gain, so it's kinda like motivation to be engaged lol.

But yeah, that's all I can think of at the moment. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and if you'd like to join, feel free to fill out the survey below.

Looking forward to seeing your responses!

[Discord][Daggerheart][21+][Async] Emberil Academy, looking for 4 new students!

Campaign Concept
Fifty years ago, the realm of Aaradell was threatened by an invasion of twisted creatures from beyond our plane of existence, beckoned forth through rifts in the planar fabric by an apocalyptic cult. Four unlikely heroes banded together to defeat the cult and stop the invading horde, and on their return, they did something unexpected - found an academy to train the next generation of young heroes, to better prepare the realm for the next crisis…

You will play one of four such new students! Starting at level 1, you will have the chance to work together with me and the other players to develop your character and the world at large. In the spirit of Daggerheart, I am leaving much of the specific details of the realm of Aaradell open for discovery, so we can fill in the blanks together.

The world will be classic adventurous fantasy, using all of Daggerheart’s base Classes, Communities, and Ancestries. While combat will play a large role, there will also be extended sequences of inter-party roleplay, attending classes, interacting with a large cast of NPCs, and exploring the world, uncovering mysteries and threats to this new peaceful age. Any level of experience with Daggerheart is fine, the system is fairly simple to learn.

Player Expectations
Collaboration and creativity - Show interest in both the world and your fellow players - ask questions, develop your characters together, and contribute to worldbuilding!
Activity and availability - I’m looking for players who can post regularly, multiple times a day. This is both to facilitate the story actually moving forward, as well as allow for the kind of back-and-forth conversations that develop interesting character relationships. I will be prioritising players whose active times are roughly equivalent, and compatible with my own.
Maturity and tolerance - The ability to handle any sensitive topics that may arise, as well as any conflict between the participants, with maturity. In addition, any form of bigotry or cruelty will result in removal from the campaign.
AI use - I am generally opposed to AI use in TTRPG games, and would require my players to refrain from using generative AI images and especially AI-assisted writing.

About Me
My name is Jacob, 32, and I’ve been playing TTRPGs and DMing for a little over two years. I play regularly both online and in person, and DM two regular campaigns. I have experience playing in several PbP games, and have DMed two short adventures using the format. Outside of TTRPGs, my interests lie in reading (fantasy, horror and historical mainly), walking, and listening to music. I am usually active throughout much of the day, with the exception of UTC 2PM-8PM, and occasional busy periods at work.

How to Apply
If this all seems interesting to you, go ahead and fill out the form below. I’ll include some opportunities for you to show off your character idea and writing style, but don’t feel like you need to commit to anything yet - it’s just to give me an idea of what kind of player you are! I will be leaving the application open for a while, or until I receive an unwieldy amount of replies, and will update when I have reached out to the players I choose.

[Discord][5e][Asynch] - Devil's Bridge - A Slavic Mythology inspired lvl 1-5 adventure

**CLOSED!** Thank you to everyone who applied - I have the applicants I need. Love this community!

Hey all!

I'm looking to run a 4-5 player campaign set in a Slavic-inspired setting, starting with the very cool lvl 1-5 adventure Devil's Bridge by Yellow Madhouse. I have been delving in to Slavic mythology the last few years, and the people at YM have come up with a very cool setting filled with real-life inspired folklore, mythological beings and creatures and adventure hooks. This campaign will run the published adventure first, and if everything goes well and we get on well as a group, we can expand into a homebrewed campaign from lvl 5 and up.

This is my second attempt at running this campaign - the last one fell apart because of player attrition. More on that further down.

Here is a bit of text from the creators:

Inspired by Slavic folklore, [the adventure] is based around a real bridge in Bulgaria and the legends surrounding it. The adventure setting is a fusion of medieval Balkan and Bulgarian Renaissance culture. However, we have also tapped into the hidden treasures of Czech, Russian, Polish, Serbian, and Macedonian folklore, weaving them into this dark tale...

... Folktales hold a sense of truth, which is the wisdom of our ancestors passed down through stories to us, evolving with each generation. In these tales, our predecessors used magical archetypes and tropes to explore life, satisfy their existential angst, and search for meaning.

The game will be run exclusively with 5e2014 rules - we can talk about 2024 inclusions, but they will be rare. No homebrew – and certain races and classes might have restrictions, but we'll talk about that.

Sheets will be done in Beyond and I will be using Avrae for rolling and tracking and occasionally Owlbear Rodeo for maps and combat tracking.

I expect a minimum of one IC post per day. I will be removing anyone who doesn't continuously lives up to this criteria. I know it's harsh, but if you've been in a pbp campaign before, you know that it's unfortunately necessary. I commit to doing the same and will communicate it beforehand if circumstances mean I can't - I expect the same from players. Just be up front about it.

About me:

I'm 38 years old, he/him, and I've been playing 5e and 5.5e for 5-6 years now and have been both playing and DM'ing. I have DM'ed quite a few PbP campaigns now. My timezone is GMT+1 and I will be fairly active.

Thanks and happy gaming!
