- Reghed nomads who hunt the ever diminishing caribou herds. Without the sun, the plants are dying. Without plants, the animals are perishing. The people will soon follow, or be forced to migrate to the South.

- Auril, the Frostmaiden. Yep, a real god, honest word, walking among you. They say don't meet your heroes. Does the same go for your gods?

- dwarves, dragons, hags, trout fishers, and up to ten different mayors!

WHAT IT IS AND WHY IT'S COOL

Official adventure run by an experienced PbP GM who has also run this adventure to completion at the table before.

Party of 3, looking for one or two more players. 4 is The Sweet Spot and they have a sidekick. I'm definitely looking for one, but if I get two really good applications or two people who already know each other and play together I might consider going up to five. (I initially ran the adventure with five and it was still a challenge and fun)

- 2024 5e PHB builds only. I'll explain stats when you join. Pretty much stock standard rules, but I'm still learning the 2024 changes. Please DO NOT build your PC yet.

- Start at level 3 because the adventure is already in progress

- You will be issued a special secret as part of the character building process which may influence your decisions.

- We will also do a little session re zero when you are accepted, to go over the rules and character fit and all that good stuff (posted via text)

- Post daily, at least three times a week, but sometimes we get slow near the end of the weekend and the early part of the week (Sunday, Monday), and sometimes we post more frequently, like during combat or conversation. The pace varies, and sometimes it may seem slow, but it is steady and moving forward. They've already gained two levels.

In a fictionalised version of Tokyo’s Red Light Kabukicho, Yakuza families make the rules then get rich off playing the game. The Kikyo-Kai in particular have an almost supernatural chokehold over Tokyo, and every subsidiary family wants their own little piece of Kabukicho, whether through protection, extortion, laundering, or some sort of totally legal business going on. 

Tomoya Yuuen is the head of the Yuuen family, a smaller family with a tiny moneylending office sitting somewhere on the outer edge of the district. He’s also saved your life. Whether he picked you up off the streets, poached you from a less forgiving yakuza family, or just gave you a reason to continue going onwards, you owe your life to him. Except, just as he saved your life, he was also the one to take it. One day, he called your group together to his office, loaded golden bullets into a pistol, then shot each of you… and then himself. 

You wake up with supernatural abilities. You wake up and Tomoya hasn’t been heard from since. You need to get to the bottom of this mystery. I'm running a game inspired heavily by two of my favourite things ever! Jojo's and Yakuza. I'm going to be using the Bizarre Adventures D6 System to tell an intense sort of story about family ties, dangerous foes, and bizarre encounters of wit and guts!

I am looking for 3-4 Knights for what I hope to be a relatively short game of Mythic Bastionland.

Mythic Bastionland is a hex-crawl game where you travel the realm and seek glory by way of encountering and interacting with strange events — called Myths — that play out over the course of your journey.

In the meantime, you will take on Knightly tasks as you encounter people on the road or in the realm's centers of power.

Some things prospective players should know before they sign up:

1. Everyone plays a Knight. There are 72 Knights in the game, and you will roll to see which Knight you play. Most aspects of your personality will be yours to decide, but there is no pick and choose character creation like in DND.
2. A typical realm in Mythic Bastionland is based on a 12x12 hex map with 6 Myths to encounter. I am using a 9x9 map with only 3 myths as I am hoping to keep the game relatively short.
3. This will be my first time running the game. Please be willing to endure my newbie growing pains as we play.
4. Please include the word "Galahad" somewhere in your application to confirm you've read the instructions.
5. I'd like to keep to a post rate of generally once per day.
6. I am happy to teach the game to new players, but I also expect players to read the rules I've included in the server to cut down on back-and-forth during the game.

The Kingdom of Vale is currently embroiled in a civil war. After the Three Tyrants, a reign of terrible kings who brought the kingdom to ruin and lost half of the nation’s land, a revolutionary force led by the radical Leonidas Dekante stormed the capital and beheaded the ruling king, King Grun. Now, with Grun dead, a very small force of loyalists have taken his daughter, Princess Apollyon, and camped out in foreign lands.

I am searching for two revolutionaries and two loyalists to compete in a PBP campaign! As tradition fights against revolution, both sides will be forced to make difficult decisions to achieve what they want.

Expectations:

We are using 2014 D&D rules.

This is an RP heavy campaign. Combat frequency will vary depending on the arc, and may be homebrewed to expedite it since this is a PBP format.

This campaign is beginner friendly!

Though this is a 2v2 style campaign, I don't anticipate there to be direct PVP. Though it's not impossible, I anticipate you all to be more of leaders than direct combatants. You will be guiding your armies to victory through tactics and using diplomacy to win rather than traditional d&d combat.

The Loyalists:

“If there was one thing the tyrants had done right, it was choosing the royal guard. They had chosen not based on merit, nor by status, but by pure loyalty alone. Anyone, so long as they proved themselves loyal unto death, could be a Winged Knight. Now, those Winged Knights were all that stood between the last of the Olster family and a bloody end.”

The loyalists now find themselves camped out in foreign lands trying to survive. Some within the loyalists are demanding that they approach neighbor nations to try and garner support and maintain their rightful claim to the throne. Others are more skeptical, not wanting to regain the throne to simply become a vassal for another nation.

As a loyalist, you have the following starting options:

I am a Winged Knight. I escorted Princess Apollyon to safety, and I will die for her.

I am from a prestigious noble family that sided with the royal family. I was sent to the palace for my safety, only for that too to become overrun by rebels.

I was a mere worker for the royal palace when the rebels stormed. I evacuated with some of the Winged Knights, my skills being deemed worthy.

I was a bureaucrat who had been with the princess when the rebels attacked. I was escorted along with her, but, truly, I feel out of place among these warriors.

The Revolutionaries:

“We fought not for some grand ideals. Perhaps that is what doomed us. We were not some grandiose revolutionaries with enlightened ambitions. We were disgruntled farmers with pitchforks in hand. We were underpaid soldiers fighting for our families. We were the needy taking from the affluent- nothing more. No wonder we knew not what to do once we had succeeded- so, we left all of that to the few intellectuals among us.”

The newly appointed parliament of Vale has proclaimed that the civil war is over, but they know this to be a falsehood. Many loyalists still lie outside the walls of the capital, eager to retake the city, and Princess Apollyon has yet to be captured- the loyalists shining beacon of hope. Not to mention, the Republic is bankrupt, has a poor militia they call an army, and are struggling to appease many of the aristocrats who initially backed their takeover of the government. On top of it all, the figurehead of the revolution, Leonidas Dekante, has a following of people believing he should become king. Now, the Republic is faced with many difficult choices, and there are many within this government who seek to abuse the weaknesses it has to garner power for themselves. Can democracy truly succeed, or is Vale doomed to tyranny?

As a revolutionary, you have the following starting options:

I was a soldier who defected during the revolution. I made use of my military connections to lead the siege against the palace and gain a name for myself.

I was from a mercantile family backing the revolution. Now, the revolution owes a lot to my family.

I was a vocal supporter of the revolution who was imprisoned during it. Having been freed, I became a symbol of the old regime's tyranny.

I was a simple follower of Leonidas Dekante, swayed by his charismatic speaking and warrior spirit. After the coup, he chose me to speak in the new government.

The metallic arms of her once beautiful Frame sprouted from her back like the branches of an oak tree, their movements ethereally beautiful despite the immense weight of her current form. Beneath the mass of writhing steel and muscle, her heart still soldiered on, every beat sending ripples through her form like rings on the surface of water. In the cold nights, you'd held one another close. To the rest of the cadre, you'd explained it like a survival tactic for the arctic winter. Not that anyone had believed you.

Her laughter echoing off the walls of the cavern brought you back to reality. That was then. This was now. The Handler's orders were absolute. She had to die, just like the rest of them.

My name is Roro and I would love to run a game of GIRL FRAME. At its core, the game is about the struggle to hold onto one's humanity in a world intent on taking it away. You will take the role of Girls, lesbian pilots piloting half-living mech suits. You are sent by your Handler to kill Gorgons, who are eldritch being from outside of our reality. It's a sci-fi horror ttrpg, using a version of the Powered by the Apocalypse engine, which means you will take actions proactively, instead of waiting for your GM to prompt them like in other systems.

Structure: The game follows a unique structure, in that players take a much more active role in shaping many of the scenes they are in. In this way, it borrows from the freeform 1-on-1 style of roleplaying, where all parties share a greater responsibility in portraying the circumstances around them. On top of their more usual duties, your GM (That's me!) will also be taking the role of your Handler, who is the person responsible for the base fulfilling its intended objective, but most importantly: Making sure the Girls (That's you!) stay in line and do as they are told.

You will mess with one another to gain status, give and receive orders, forge deep bonds through your struggles and employ every tactic available to ensure you survive in a world that views you as disposable. But remember, good Girls always do as they are told.

Girls?: In GIRL FRAME, all pilots are referred to as Girls. Legally, you are not people and because of this, any objections to the designation of Girl will fall on deaf ears.

Content Warnings: There's a lot. Transphobia/Misgendering (in the sense that all pilots are designated as Girls), homophobia, sexism, drug abuse, authoritarian rule, suicide, nonconsensual surgical procedures, loss of bodily autonomy, hallucinations, memory loss, body horror, gore, dehumanization, sexual assault, brainwashing, torture, ableism, sex.

Touchstones: The game (both the setting and this campaign in particular) takes inspiration from the Mechsploitation Genre (Warhound most notably), Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gundam (Particularly Iron Blooded Orphans and The Witch from Mercury), SIGNALIS, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and Chainsaw Man. I am also told that the setting takes inspiration from Warframe and Armored Core, but I am not personally familiar with those.

Me as a GM: I'm Roro, 24 years old and living in the UK (GMT timezone, but I'm a bit of a night owl). Professionally, I am a hair stylist, but I dream of being a writer. My pronouns are she/her and I'm a woman. I have been running a handful of games before, but I am not a super experienced GM. I promise I'll try though. Got a decade's worth of pbp experience, with different systems and more freeform 1-on-1 games. I enjoy messy relationships, difficult choices, toxic power dynamics, heartbreaking betrayals and explosive violence, so you can expect the game to lean into those aspects. I am well aware that the content warning list was very long, but I promise that I will do my best to handle these things well. I recently finished another campaign, so you will have my full attention (in terms of pbp writing) for the foreseeable future. Expect 1-5 posts from me every day.

You as a player: I am looking for players who want to lean into the themes of the game as described earlier. If you are someone who enjoys seeing your characters go through hell, you'll enjoy this game. Because of the themes the game deals with, I will only be accepting women and non-binary players. It is ultimately a comfort thing for me.

Even if this is by no means a PVP game, there will be elements of player characters acting against the best interest of one another. Pinning the blame for a mistake on someone else, to redirect the Handler's wrath, is a classic. I am absolutely not saying that you have to play someone who would do that, but it is important that players are okay with such things being done in general. I'm a very chatty person and enjoy other chatty people. Sharing memes OOC, playlists and such is more than encouraged. I expect you to post at least daily. Breaks and absences are expected and reasonable of course. Just do your best to keep us in the loop. Remember, good Girls do not shy away from terrible phoneposts.

AI: No. No exceptions. We play GIRL FRAME to momentarily swap out our own dystopia for another. There ain't no need to blend them.

Safety Tools: In GIRL FRAME, sex as a theme is definitely present. There are even mechanics around it, where it can be used as a tool to influence others and gain various personal benefits. I do NOT intend for this to be an ERP game though. In practice, this means that even if we establish certain overarching details about such scenes, there won't be any actual ERP. What this means more specifically and how to handle it in practice is something we'll have to discuss as a group.

The Handler I'll portray won't be very friendly and accommodating, but I will always try my very hardest to be OOC. As part of the applications, I will gather a list of lines and veils that will be publicly available in the server (anonymously). Do note that just because something isn't on that list doesn't mean players aren't allowed to be uncomfortable by it, if something happens during a scene which they aren't okay with. If that happens, please DM me and I will pivot away from it or handle it as necessary.

Application: If all of the above sounds very cool, you should totally fill in the application. If you haven't played GIRL FRAME before, that is very much okay. I'll provide the book to everyone and will do my best to teach you. I don't have a lot of experience with it either.
