Intrest Check: Despair Dilemma or Kids On Bikes 2e
Hello, one and all. I am not recruiting yet, but I wanted to gauge interest in playing Despair Dilemma or Kids on Bikes 2e. I'll post the concepts and a little synopsis of the games. I'll wait a day or less to see what kind of intrest this gets, please comment if your intrested and which one or to remain more anonymous here is a quick poll:
Despair Dilemma
Despair Dilemma runs more like a one-shot and is a GM-less game. It's based on Death Game narratives like Danganronpa, Zero Escape, Squid Game, and more. In these games, people are trapped in a life-or-death scenario and must fight, scavenge, or argue for the sake of their victory and survival. Players take on the role of the masterminds and narrative forces pushing the characters to the brink.
For this, we'll play a starting scenario and just try it out. I've never actually played it before despite being a backer, so I'm interested in trying it out. It will be a shorter game just to get feet wet but we could keep going to other scenarios as well.
Kids on Bikes 2e: Lost in the Lou – St. Louis, MO
Kids on Bikes is a storytelling rules-light tabletop role-playing game. It's a collaborative world-building RPG based primarily on eighties and nineties small towns in America in the middle of nowhere with teenage protagonists and supernatural occurrences. So think Gonnies, Monster Squad, and ET unless you go for a more mature game, like many of them are.
I've experienced Kids on Bikes, and it's probably my favorite game system. It's very story-heavy and relies on players and GMs working together to tell a narrative, with dice rolls helping along the way. This would be a campaign and a longer commitment.
Edit: Poll Ended. We're going Kids on Bikes.
