What makes you actually stick with a play-by-post campaign instead of dropping it after a few weeks?

Hi people ☺️
I’ve been thinking about what makes some PbP games last for months or even years while others slowly die after the initial excitement.
Is it mostly about posting frequency, the GM, the other players, the story, character relationships, combat pacing, or something else entirely?

[Web] Sepulchria — free persistent fantasy RP world | Looking for our first 50 players

Hi everybody 😊 We’ve just opened the Closed Alpha for Sepulchria, a browser-based persistent fantasy roleplaying world.
Create one character, enter a shared city, meet other players, build relationships, join organisations and take part in ongoing stories.
The game is free to play and will remain free to play.
We’re looking for our first 50 players to help test the experience and give feedback.
Play/apply: [LINK]
I’d particularly love feedback on onboarding, clarity and whether the world gives you enough direction when you first arrive.

We’re opening Sepulchria to its first 50 players — a persistent browser-based fantasy world built around written roleplay

Hi everyone,
My friend and I have been building Sepulchria, a persistent online fantasy roleplaying world, and we’re finally getting ready to let other people inside. ☺️
Instead of joining a traditional campaign that exists only when everyone is online, you create one persistent character who lives in the same fantasy city as other players.
You can meet other characters, build relationships, join organisations, explore locations, uncover mysteries and take part in Game Master-led stories over time.

The game is focused heavily on written/social roleplay and collaborative storytelling, with character progression and a larger world developing around what players actually do.
We’re now recruiting the first 50 players for our Closed Alpha.

We call them The First Fifty.💫
This is a real Alpha, so we’re specifically looking for people who are comfortable giving feedback, finding things that don’t work and helping us understand what makes the world enjoyable — or confusing.

A few important things:
• Browser based — no download required
• Free to participate in the Alpha
• Written/text-based roleplaying
• One persistent character per account
• Shared fantasy world rather than isolated campaigns
• Social interaction and player relationships are a major part of the experience
• GM-led stories and events
• Dark fantasy / mystery atmosphere
If that sounds like your kind of thing, you can apply here: Alpha test

👉You can also learn more about the world at sepulchria.com.

We’re a very small team, so this first group is deliberately limited. Not everyone who applies will necessarily be selected for the first round, but there will be more opportunities later.

I’d also be happy to answer questions here about what we’re building.
Thanks for taking a look.

— Manuel
