Lung isolation tool of choice for massive hemoptysis??
PCCM fellow here.
Had a discussion today regarding massive hemoptysis - turns out we don’t stock any bronchial blockers or balloon tamponade devices. I am curious what other institutions use so that we can get something for use at my institution. Based on what I have read you can use use a DLT (with or without additional bronchial blocker), standard ETT with balloon tamponade device or bronchial blocker. Correct me if I am wrong.
I think a device that allows for simultaneous bronchoscope use is preferred. I know Ambu has a DLT with integrated camera and EZ blocker has port for scope.
Any favorites or recommendations?
Thanks in advance!!
