Hello! I've had this thing for a few years now but don't really use it too often. I've finally found time to mess with it & I noticed that the tapes I play are muffled. It's almost like the sound is being played underwater. The tapes are fine and sound good in my stereo setup. Belts are new. Heads are clean. Radio sounds good so it's not the headphone jack. The odd thing is, when I place the tape directly onto the mechanism instead of sliding it into the plastic "holders," the sound gets way better. Something to do with how the head aligns with the tape? I don't know if it's something I can fix or not. Advice would be appreciated.
