After researching home bakery regulations across Canada, these are the 5 mistakes I see most often

Hi everyone,
I’m a registered nurse with a specialty in informatics and a lifelong passion for baking. A few years ago, I started digging into the regulations around selling baked goods from home in Canada and quickly realized how difficult it was to find accurate information in one place.
What started as research for myself eventually grew into HomeBakeryBusiness.ca, where I help aspiring home bakers navigate regulations, pricing, labeling, and business setup.
The five mistakes I see most often are:
Assuming every province has the same rules.
Overlooking municipal bylaws and zoning requirements.
Underpricing products and not accounting for all costs.
Missing important labeling requirements.
Waiting until everything is perfect before getting started.
Many people are surprised to learn that requirements can vary significantly depending on where they live.
If you’re running a home bakery—or thinking about starting one—what’s been your biggest challenge so far? I’d be happy to share what I’ve learned.
