Wanted a bigger screen to use 4:3 content on, accidentally found out a set of roll blinds gives some nice scanlines to a projector
Not a CRT technically, but CRT adjacent. I wanted a 4:3 projector setup to watch old shows on instead of my 20", so I picked up a good screen a guy had listed on marketplace. He tossed in an old 4:3 Vidikron projector (LCD, loaded inputs) he had too he wasn't sure of the condition on.
Still figuring out where to set everything up permanently so I projected it onto an old 72" wide set of roll up blinds that came with the house for now. It's worked pretty decently (not as good as the screen will), but the biggest thing is that the small gaps between the blinds give a surprisingly decent "scanline" effect for cheap. Once I learned this I hooked up the SNES and I gotta say, playing on a 100" screen is glorious.
Blinds are this style, although the ones I have at the house are a little nicer to roll up and down than those look like.
