Hey everyone,
I’m a first-time grower and just finished setting up my kit. I made a classic rookie mistake: I bought a local Super Soil (pre-amended) that is explicitly labeled as "not recommended for seedlings/germination" because it's too nutrient-dense (hot).
Since I’ve already invested quite a bit in this setup, I want to avoid burning my seedlings. My plan is to start them in 16oz (500ml) solo cups using an inert medium (peat/perlite) and then transplant them into the 5-gallon (19L) final pots with the Super Soil once they are established.
Does this strategy make sense? Any tips on how to handle the transition to such a rich soil without shocking the plants?
The Super Soil Specs:
It’s an organic mix containing: Peat, perlite, vermiculite, coco coir, earthworm castings, bovine/chicken/rabbit manure, bat guano, dolomitic limestone, neem cake, cottonseed meal, fish meal, bone/blood meal, bokashi, seaweed extract, and amino acids.
pH: 6.7
N-P-K: 1.40 - 1.12 - 0.56
Organic Carbon: 21.5%
C/N Ratio: 15/1
My Setup:
Tent: 2'x2'x5' (60x60x160cm)
Light: 65W LED Quantum Board
Pot Size: 5 Gallon (19L)
Fans: Exhaust + oscillating fan
Thanks in advance for the help!
