After 19km luna sandals surface broke

I have bought the sandals from a local distributor and they are refusing to accept them for return.

Below sandals have only been used for 17km walks and have below damage. Item is definitely defective. I love the sandals and I'm very sad to see that damage. I've been people with 500km with less sole wear than me.

Please advise
