Bulgarian (BOB) Bible in US?
Hi guys! I'm a lapsed Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox guy in the US, and I've been recently trying to get in touch with my faith. One of my friends took me to a Ukrainian Orthodox Church for Easter, and I was really impressed by the Old Church Slavonic service, which is something you don't really see in the US very often. The next Sunday that I came back for services was the Sunday of the Paralytic, who I wasn't aware was 38 when he was blessed by Christ, which is the exact age I am currently. A few other signs in my life have come together to make me decide that this is finally when I will really make a commitment to my faith.
For my daily prayers, I literally printed some off of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church website in Bulgarian, and I have since copied them out into a little black moleskin, so I feel OK at least for my daily prayer rule. However, I am also making a commitment to finally read the Bible cover to cover, and my KJV and ESV are just not enough. I just finished reading the Pauline epistles for the first time, and the KJV is so clunky I feel myself constantly going to Bible Gateway to read the crystal-clear Bulgarian translation of the BOB bible. ESV is better in a lot of ways, but also less poetic and sometimes it's still very obscure.
I know English much, much better than Bulgarian, which I can barely speak. So I'm really not sure why the BOB bible rings so true for me, but it's got a clarity and smoothness that I've not seen anywhere else, even with the EOB translation.
Is there anywhere online or elsewhere where I can get a Bulgarian BOB bible? Maybe a prayerbook as well? The main thing I would be using it for is the New Testament, because I'm not ready to go into the LXX (yet) so if it's only NT, then that's actually better in many ways. I've tried for weeks to find something on Etsy or eBay or Amazon but no luck. God bless!
