Preparing for OHCHR substantive MCQ (Associate Human Rights Officer, P2), anyone been through it? Looking for detailed prep tips

Hi everyone,

I have been invited to an online assessment for an Associate Human Rights Officer position (P2) with OHCHR, specifically in the Business and Human Rights Section. It is my first time and, according to the portal, it is a substantive test to be done through the OHCHR examinations platform.

I am trying to prepare as well as possible… From what I can see, my test is a multiple choice test, with a 15-minute window. I know that is quite short, so I am guessing it is a focused set of questions rather than a broad sweep.

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through a similar test, whether for this specific section or for human rights officer roles at OHCHR more generally. In particular, I would love to know:

1.	Was the content mostly UN system and OHCHR institutional knowledge (mechanisms, treaty bodies, special procedures, etc.), or was it more substantive and thematic (BHR frameworks, HRDD, specific human rights issues)?
3.	Were there country or region-specific questions (e.g. Africa, Horn of Africa, Ethiopia), or was it more general?
4. How much time would you spend preparing for it?
5.	Did anything come up that surprised you, or that you wish you had prepared for?
6.	Any documents, resources, or study approaches that actually helped?

Any detail you can share, even about the format or the experience of taking it, would be incredibly useful. Happy to share notes once I go through it too.

Thank you in advance - this Reddit has been my go to for years now. I always had the dream of working for the UN and this is the first time I am asked to join further assessment.
