Quick thought : one of the most acclaimed romantic drama films basically sums up modern times. Bum homeless chad beats out both statusmaxxed htn and poor sap betabuxxer. It was never about stability or whatever value society claims you must embody
Rose does not only prefer a homeless bum chad over her mtn statusmaxxed rich fiance, but also completely disregards the poor betabuxxer she eventually did marry for multiple decades and have children with. Need I say more? Might just portray the actual brutal reality than any form of “thoughtful discussion” ever could. No wonder the movie stands the test of time. It basically outlines the world as we know it today. Even on her deathbed, she will always remember the homeless bum chad fondly. Just goes to show how much you’re really worth.
