Is the repair shop scamming me

Firstly, sorry if this is the wrong place, and if it is could anyone direct me to the right one. I had a bump on my car a few weeks ago (first picture), it was still driveable and nothing was coming up on the dashboard as faulty or whatever, however the thing that opens the door had been jammed and the headlight had become unattached so it needed fixing and it went to an insurance repair garage. When the guy collected my car he told me not to worry and that it won’t be a write off, partly due to the damage he could see and the age of
my car (2018)
A few days ago my boyfriend realised his football boots were in the boot of the car so went to collect them and found the car like this (2nd picture).
I recieved a phone call yesterday saying that my car is deemed as a write off by the engineers to which I told them I had the pictures of before and after and if they could explain the reasoning as to why they had looked into my car that way (I asked ‘in that way’ as I do understand they have to check for internal damage) The guy on the phone started listing internal car parts and what was wrong with them saying the value of the repairs were just under 5 grand, aswell as that he basically didn’t care about what I had to say so I didn’t get anywhere. The insurance company basically said they go off what the engineers tell them so I haven’t got anywhere there either. Everyone I have told is saying I am being ripped off and my car could be secretly fixed and sold somewhere after all this is over so I just wanted some advice on if this looks genuine or if they have tried to make the damage to my car worse.
