my friend has been trying to heal her helix piercing for over a year now but it’s just been bumpy and not going down. she was recommended tea tree oil and has been using that but it hasn’t helped, before that she used saline spray and was recommended bio oil but those didn’t help much either.

it doesn’t hurt all the time but it is itchy. normally it is not red unless irritated.

what would be the best thing for her to do? take it out, downsize, put in a hoop? we don’t have a piercer near us so any advice would be great before we go to them.
