Girlfriend's Baptism
So, my girlfriend (who I intended to marry relatively soon) is not baptized yet, given that she was raised in a non-denominational church. She claims wants to become Lutheran with me, but I don't believe she understands the significant differences in Lutheran Sacramentology versus her church's view of the highly suggested ordinances (though their baptism is valid) and wants to be baptized in the church she grew up in. I've tried to explain it but I think it kinda goes over her head, since she's gone to the same non-denom church her whole life and hasn't really learned much about theology. I'd ask my parents, but they're also non-denoms who look at me as a borderline Roman Catholic (Satanist). I wanted to propose in early July while on vacation back in my hometown, but she might not be able to be baptized in her church until November (given that they only do baptisms twice a year) and I'm not sure about asking her to marry me at least until she gets baptized. The unfortunate thing is that I'll be going for a work trip to the other side of the country in October for six months, which would heavily delay everything.
We're going to speak to a Lutheran pastor in her hometown who we've talked to and went to church there on Pentecost, but I was hoping some people here might have some general advice. I'm not going to be making any life decisions off of what people tell me, just looking for some different perspectives coming from different experiences. Thanks!
