I’ve never had this happen before and genuinely don’t know what the normal expectation is here.
I ordered something on Etsy with an expected delivery date of April 11. Five days before that date, I messaged the seller because the order was still showing as not shipped. I simply asked if it had shipped yet. I was told it would ship by the end of that week and that their shipping provider had taken longer than expected.
It did not ship.
On April 12, the day after the expected delivery date, I messaged again. I was told my order was “in progress” and would ship as soon as possible, while also blaming customs and their postal service. At this point the items still had not actually shipped.
I opened a case with Etsy but still waited another week. The items still never shipped, so instead of messaging the seller again, I escalated the open case. Etsy gave me an immediate refund.
Since I assumed the order was never coming, I bought replacement items elsewhere.
Now here’s the twist: about a week after Etsy refunded me (on the 26th), the original seller suddenly shipped the items… and I received them.
I have no idea what the expectation is now. Do I wait and see if the seller contacts me about payment or returning them? Has anyone else dealt with something like this before?
