1168UMCA (UP3866) was found lying in a trash dumpster, behind 717 South Osage in Inglewood, California on February 19, 1991.
He was identified as Elmer Holmgren per the Los Angeles ME and his death was ruled a homicide - multiple blunt traumatic injuries to head.
Elmer Holmgren, a lawyer, disappeared in February 1991 while working for con artists Sante and Kenneth Kimes Sr.
He had helped the couple with a suspected arson in Honolulu and was cooperating with the ATF as a witness. Shortly after meeting with agents, Holmgren made a nervous call to his son saying to contact the ATF if he didn’t hear from him. He was never seen again.
