Cleaned Up a Photo of Lucerne Valley Jane Doe’s Nails

I felt horrible that the photo of Jane Doe’s press ons still had pretty obvious remains still attached to them. I removed the remains, replaced the background for a stark white for better contrast, and brightened the picture up slightly to make the details of the nails more noticeable. I didn’t use any AI for this, just the same photo editing tools I’ve used since middle school. I hope this is helpful.

Los Angeles County John & Jane Doe (1921-1951)

I haven’t posted in here in so long!!!

I’ve known about this case for years but I don’t really ever see anybody talk about it. And maybe that’s because it’s almost impossible to be solved, but maybe not!

Sometime between 1921-1951 (the years that a crime scene photographer worked on cases) in Los Angeles County, California, two kids/teenagers found a stick of dynamite near a dam which instantly exploded as soon as one of them picked it up. The girl fortunately had some identifiable characteristics left on her while her male counterpart wasn’t as lucky and was unfortunately unrecognizable with only his legs being left (meaning he was likely the one to pick up the dynamite).

What I wonder is how these kids weren’t ever reported missing? As far as I know there’s no leads as to who the girl is at least (since the boys upper half was unrecognizable due to the explosion). Does anybody have any leads for the girl? This is a reconstruction of her face. I’m also putting a picture of the boys legs too.

Jane Doe is estimated to be around the ages of 12-19 and John Doe is likely around the same age as well.

Who is 'Lucky'? Unknown person, suspected Northern American, living under the radar for +20 years in the Netherlands.

Hello,

I'm hoping to bring awareness to this case, in the hopes that somebody might recognize him. He had a stroke in the Netherlands, where he had been living for approximately the last 20 years. The stroke left him with aphasia, unfortunately, but the two words he occasionally uses are 'definitely' and 'nonsense'. The police is quite certain that he is not Dutch, but Northern American (he had a nickname 'Chris the Canadian'). He was found with no identification on him, and the police has exhausted all legal avenues to establish his identity. To make the situation more peculiar, they figured out where he lived, but still couldn't establish his identity, because he paid in cash.

The picture in the hospital bed is a current picture. The other one, is AI generated, a prediction on how he could have looked like 20 years ago.

The police article + the link:

Who is “Lucky”? That is the question that has been occupying Amsterdam’s Cold Case Team for three years, after an “unknown” man was admitted to hospital. It soon becomes clear that every avenue to establish his identity leads to a dead end. The man has suffered a brain haemorrhage or stroke and is no longer able to communicate. Although this is not a police case—it is, after all, not a criminal matter—it continues to occupy colleagues Ruud and Nel. Surely, there must be someone who knows who “Lucky” is?

On 10 May 2023, a man collapses in the street. He is taken to OLVG hospital, where it becomes clear that he has suffered a brain haemorrhage or stroke. After receiving the necessary medical care, doctors determine that the man has been left with aphasia, a condition that in this case makes communication extremely difficult. He is unable to provide any information about his identity or address.

The Amsterdam-West detective unit therefore launches an investigation in an attempt to establish his identity. Not because they are required to do so, but simply because they want to help. The man has meanwhile been transferred to a care facility in Amsterdam Southeast. Although police officers pursue every possible avenue to find out more, they seem to keep reaching a dead end. Professionals closely involved with Lucky have by now begun referring to him as lacking the capacity to make decisions for himself.

But where do they go from here?

Fortunately, Team Cold Case becomes involved. The Amsterdam-West detectives are unable to make any further progress and need to focus on criminal cases. Ruud and Nel—now retired and working as volunteers with the Cold Case Team—are assigned the case. Rather than conducting a criminal investigation, they begin a social investigation. One possibility they consider is that there may be worried family members who know nothing about what has happened to him and, because they are not known to authorities, cannot be informed.

Buddhist Temple and Waterlooplein

Ruud and Nel soon try to map out who Lucky has been in contact with and what his social circles look like. They discover that he is a member of a Buddhist community based on Middenweg in Amsterdam. Members there tell them that the unidentified man is known by the nickname “Lucky.” Through other sources, Ruud and Nel discover that Lucky occasionally has a drink at Soep en Zo on Waterlooplein. To their surprise, however, he is known there as “Chris the Canadian.”

American? Canadian?

Once again, there is no clear answer as to the “real” identity of the nameless man. An additional challenge is that Lucky’s roots probably do not lie in the Netherlands. People around him believe that he may be from the United States or Canada. After all, he always spoke English, with an accent that sounded as though it came from one of those countries. Hence the nicknames used by people around him. To this day, Lucky still uses words such as “nonsense” and “definitely” to confirm or deny something. Unfortunately, he is unable to communicate much beyond that.

Everyone has the right to know who he is

Nel: “I simply cannot believe that nobody knows who this man really is. Isn’t it strange that you could perhaps live under the radar in the Netherlands for twenty years?”

Ruud: “Every person has the right to an identity, and that includes this man.”

Do you know who Lucky is? If so, please contact the police"

Lake County, FL Jane Doe (1991) has been identified as Leslie Shaw

From DNASolves.com: "On December 7, 1991, the remains of an unidentified woman were discovered in Sorrento, Florida. A hiker found the woman beneath a pile of tree branches along a hiking trail about 75 yards north of Ethel Drive in a wooded area near Sorrento. The Lake County Sheriff's Office responded and began collecting evidence and investigating.

Investigators estimated the woman was between 25 and 40 years old, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall, and weighed about 124 pounds. She had brown hair with blonde tips and hazel eyes. Investigators determined that she had been strangled and sexually assaulted prior to her death. While the woman could not be identified, Joseph A. Rolle, Jr. was charged with her rape and murder. A jury convicted Joseph A. Rolle, Jr. for the woman's rape, but not her murder. Rolle, Jr. denied knowing the woman's identity.

Despite extensive investigative efforts, including fingerprint analysis and follow-up on numerous leads, the woman could not be identified. The case remained unresolved for more than three decades. Details of the case were entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) as UP6031."

In 2024, investigators with the Lake County Sheriff's Office submitted evidence to Othram's laboratory, where scientists worked to develop a DNA extract from the provided evidence, and then built a comprehensive DNA profile for the woman. Othram's forensic genetic genealogy team used the profile to develop new investigative leads that were returned to law enforcement, who followed up on the leads and located potential relatives of the woman. This investigation led to the positive identification of the woman, who is now known to be Leslie Shaw, born in 1958. Shaw had gone missing from the central Florida area in approximately 1991.

RIP Leslie.

“Adam Kadmon” has been identified as Vincent Todd Peterson

Honestly felt this one could have been solved without genetic genealogy. Reports of him as a missing person were found in multiple newspapers that you can easily search online, and he went by the alias “Adam Kadam.” Wonder how the police never connected the dots, especially since he disappeared from and was found in Orlando, or why he was never put into NAMUS. I also wonder if his death was truly an accident, since he was reported to have “scars on his wrists” indicating possible past self harm.

No doubt, if Vincent was put into NAMUS, his disappearance would have been solved much much sooner.

Lake County, FL John Doe (1988) identified as Roy Arthur Torvik

From DNASolves.com: "On May 15, 1988, the decomposed remains of an unidentified man were found floating in a canal off Grass Lake on the Lykes Citrus Management property in Minneola, Florida. The Districts 5 and 24 Medical Examiners Office responded along with the Lake County Sheriff's Office and began collecting evidence and investigating. Investigators determined the man was a white male estimated to be between 50 and 70 years old and approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall. Because of the condition of the remains, the man could not be identified.

Despite investigative efforts, the man could not be identified and became known as Lake County John Doe (1988). Details of the case were entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) as UP6295."

Working with the Districts 5 and 24 Medical Examiners Office, the Lake County Sheriff's Office submitted forensic evidence to Othram's laboratory, where scientists worked to develop a DNA extract from the provided evidence and built a DNA profile for the man. Othram's forensic genetic genealogy team then used the profile to develo,p new investigative leads that law enforcement used in their follow-up investigation. They located potential relatives of the man, which led to his positive identification as Roy Arthur Torvik, who was born on November 22, 1929.

RIP Roy.

Note: I could not find any reconstructions or photos for Roy unfortunately.

Looking for help finding info on a 1987 Jane Doe in Nevada

This Jane Doe was speculated to be a victim of the I-5 Strangler, Roger Kibbe. All the info I have on her comes from a single newspaper article. There is no NAMUS case. I could not find a single other newspaper article that mentions her. I know it’s a long shot but does anybody have any further ideas about where to look?

Here is the full newspaper article. There is another Doe mentioned. She was later identified as Robbin Simpson.

Milam County Jane Doe (1986)

— This is a repost of one of my previous postings, I have submitted Milam County Jane Doe to the DNA Doe Project for consideration —

On November 4, 1986, the body of a young teen would be found by a telephone repairman doing work nearby in the area of US Route 77, just seven miles south of Rockdale, Texas. She was found lying face down in a grassy ditch, wearing nothing but a yellow metal ring. It was determined that she was beaten to death and PMI was estimated to be days to weeks prior.

The Jane doe is estimated to be between the ages of 12-16yrs old, possibly White or Hispanic, 5’2-5’3”, and an estimated weight between 90-100lbs. Her hair appeared to be naturally a dark brown/auburn but may have been dyed to a strawberry blonde color. She may have had spina bifida that affected her walk, she had very poor dental health to the point it may have had affected her speech, and no signs of receiving dental care prior. Her ears were double pierced.

On November 6, 2006, Jane Doe’s remains were exhumed. Her jawbone and maxilla were found to be missing, making it impossible to do a 3D reconstruction. Autopsy photos of the skull that included the jawbone and maxilla were shown to a forensic artist who created a 2D sketch. DNA and dentals are available.

Milam County Jane Doe has gone unidentified for 40 years.

Philadelphia Police Have Announced An Update In The Disappearances Of Gabriella Amarando (Missing Since Sep, 2012) and Maribel Fresses (Missing Since Feb, 2018)

On August 12th, 2026 the Philadelphia police issued an update in the disappearances of 22 year old Gabriella Amarando and 27 year old Maribel Fresses both of whom went missing in September 2012 and February 2018 from Philadelphia. Authorities announced their disappearances are now be treated as a death investigation following 95 different search warrant carried out on a home since June 19th.

On June 19th near 6th and Market street the investigation began after a US Park Ranker overheard an argument between a man and a woman after the woman screamed that the man was going to hurt her. The ranger pulled over a black BMW driven by a 44 year old man named Eugene Horsch. Horsch was with a woman and he was found to have two illegal handguns with filed off serial numbers, knives, a cattle prod, handcuffs, and drugs in his vehicle.

When interviewed the woman’s ID belonged to a 3rd missing woman, 35 year old Blair Tonzelli who went missing in August of 2022 from Philadelphia. At the time of her disappearance she was associating with a man named “Raymond" who lived in the neighborhood of Olney and sold marijuana.

The house where Horsch lived is located in Philadelphia on West Chew Avenue and has ties to fourth missing woman Amy McHale the ex-wife of Horsch’s late father, Raymond a convicted drug dealer and violent film/book producer who used woman from Kensington in his films. Raymond passed away in 2025 but his wife McHale was last seen at the home in June 2016 before she was reported missing to authorities.

During the search investigators found evidence describe as "real dark" which were images and videos of both Amarando and Fresses alive in the home before later videos showed them deceased according to investigators. Horsch is currently being held in jail and was indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, another count of possession of an unlawfully produced document and authentication feature.

Federal agents have begun searching pipes under the home to try and find the bodies of any of the missing women while Horsch is being held in jail on no bail as the investigation continues. In addition to the videos authorities which ranges from 600,000 images, 70,000 videos, and over 10,000 pages of writings. As of now authorities have confirmed they are only 5-7% of the way through the images, videos, and manuscripts as of Wednesday’s press conference.

In addition to they announced they had also found 20 containers of unknown substances in the home/pipes which were sent to Chicago for analysis. They also discovered more evidence including a suspicious stockpile of chemicals in bottles, a 55 gallon drum attached to waterlines, five urns believed to be cremated remains, hidden compartments, illegal guns, several fake ID’s including federal agent badges, 120 pieces of ballistic evidence, a marijuana growing operation worth thousands of dollars, and a handwritten letter with references to Ted Bundy. This was discovered over the course of as of now 95 different search warrants executed on the home.

Investigators notified both families and are continuing to investigate for further remains or evidence at the home. They have also announced that the FBI, DEA, New Jersey State Police, and Philadelphia Police are using sniffer dogs in a joint investigation of the property to try and find further evidence and have already dug up the front yard. They have also asked those with information on/or who knew Eugene Horsch and his father or the house itself to contact police with their information.
