Who was the Long Beach Jane Doe?

On the morning of May 28th, 1974, the body of an unidentified woman was found on a jetty at Alamitos Beach in Long Beach, California. This jetty was near Shoreline Drive and Ocean Boulevard and was adjacent to Marina Green. She was strangled to death and had been sexually assaulted prior to her death. She was 5’5 (165cm) tall and weighed in at about 118lbs (53.5kg). She had a recognizable face at the time of discovery and no decomposition had set in. She was likely killed in the early morning hours of May 28th or on the night of May 27th.

She was wearing a pink 2 piece suit with white trimming around the neck, a black faux fur coat about 3/4 in length, black bikini style panties with a strawberry print, and wore a 14 karat white-gold ring with a small diamond solitaire. 2 keys on a key ring with a broken chain were also found on her body.

She also had a T shaped scar on her left hand and a 1 inch scar on the back right of her thigh.

Despite extensive investigation, there were no clear leads on who she was or who her killer was and the case went cold for almost 4 decades after her murder.

In 2013, about 39 years after she was murdered, a witness in Jane Doe’s murder, who was then living in Texas was tracked down after the case was reopened and had admitted to helping dispose of Jane Doe’s body. Law enforcement were led to the man who had murdered her, a man named Gary Stamp.

Gary Stamp, still residing in Long Beach was then taken into custody and admitted to murdering Jane Doe. He stated that he had met Jane Doe at a bar in Downtown Long Beach and that he had no information on who she was besides that she said her name was Anna/Ana.

In 2014, Gary passed away in police custody before he could ever stand trial.

She only has fingerprints available as dentals and DNA are not available

If you have any information on this case that could aid in her identification please call the following numbers

Guadalupe “Lupe” Dailey

Guadalupe “Lupe” Dailey was a 26 year old woman who went missing in Santee, San Diego county California on August 31st 1997. She was planning to go to Las Vegas with her boyfriend but never showed up. On September 2nd, she was then reported missing.

Shortly after her disappearance her white Toyota pickup truck was found at La Petite Academy, a daycare on Carlton Hills Blvd that Lupe worked as co-director.

When law enforcement visited her apartment, all her belongings remained at her residence, including a pair of pictures of her two young children. It was reported that she would not get up and leave randomly as she was happy with her life and job at the time.

Lupe was in the process of divorcing her then husband, James Dailey. He denied taking a polygraph test after Lupe vanished and law enforcement performed a search on his residence.

James was described as an aggressive individual and was allegedly “obsessed” with the thought of murdering Lupe and had reportedly said to his co workers that he could hide Lupe’s body so her remains would never be found. He also said that he could hide her body on the Viejas Indian Reservation where he previously worked as a police officer. He had no history of violence despite his threats.

When encountering law enforcement, James said that he had met Lupe at his apartment on Lund Street in Santee California on the afternoon that she went missing and argued about money. He stated that he had departed to mission bay to “cool off”.

However, when his boat was checked it was discovered his boat had no spark plugs rendering it unusable. lupe’s checkbook was found on the boat with a cash withdrawal receipt. Lupe had a documented fear of water which would mean she would likely not willingly get onto the boat.

James then took his children and moved from Santee California to Muncie Indiana with his sister months after Lupe had gone missing. He had started a new life and enrolled in Ball State University as an English major.

In 2001, James was charged with Lupe’s murder.

During the trial James’s defense argued the case against James was circumstantial and there was no credible evidence that Lupe was deceased. Some witnesses also reported that they had seen Lupe alive after the time that she would’ve been murdered.

James was convicted of murdering Guadalupe Dailey and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison in November of 2001. To this day he still upholds his innocence.

Lupe’s remains have never been found to this day.

Guadalupe was Asian and Hispanic and spoke with a slight accent. She stood at 5’3 and approximately 110lbs. She had black hair and brown eyes. She would be turning 56 years old this year.
