AITA Coworker needs a ride to work but I’m tired of not being able to run on my own time.

So I have a friend who needed a job bad seen him down bad at the grocery store and decided to help him out. I got his contact and passed it along to my boss and put in a good word for him. He gets hired and now is working at the same company as me, but during the first week of him working everything was smooth he had transportation and everything was fine. 2 weeks into him working the job he says he has no way to get to work since his transmission blew out and he doesn’t have the funds to get it fixed, so he asked if I could take em to work that week and of course I said yes because I just got him the job and my reputation and name was on the line. Gas right now is 4.50 for 89 where I live so the first week he didn’t give me anything then the 2nd week he gave me $40 for the week and he’s been doing that ever since. It’s now been 1 month and I’m sick of taking him to work it feels like I’m being rushed to pick him up feels like I don’t even get to run on my own time at all. I have no kids but it feels like I have a son I have to pick up and take to work. Also I failed to mention our job we can leave as soon as we are done the area that we are working in. So at times I can be done at 2pm in the afternoon or be done at 5 pm but it’s been multiple times that I have had to wait an hour or 2 hours just for him to finish up his area. Am I the asshole for not wanting to take him to work or take his little $40 I don’t need it.
