I'm building a new surfskate board by converting a cruiser with a waterborne adapter. I'm just wondering what the reccomended deck width is for a surfskate?

I previously had a way too small 7 inch wide deck (my first board for the last month), hence why I'm building a new board.

I'm eyeing one thats 8.25", is that not wide enough?

And should the deck cover all the way heel to toe or is it okay if some heel and toe overhangs?
