Traveling US to Brisbane, plus some domestic flights. On the Qantas site, domestic flights allow two carry bags, one to go up and one for underseat, totaling 14kg. But for International Economy the baggage page says ONE carry bag and ONLY 7kg, plus a personal item.
For my personal item, I was planning to bring a small tote that adheres to the underseat bag size (34x48x23cm / 13x18x9in). Would this be allowed as my personal item on the International leg? It is technically larger than a small purse but it very comfortably fits at my feet and everything in it are things I'll want during the flight. How strict are they being these days? Do they actually weigh all of the bags?
I did sign up with Qantas for their frequent flyer program. But from what I can find, it doesn't look like that makes any difference in what I'm allowed.
My carry on meets the size requirement. As currently packed, it weighs 6.15kg, 13.5lbs. My personal item (assuming I'm allowed that size) currently weighs 3.2kg, 7.1lbs. The combined number is 9.3kg, 20.5lbs which is over the 7kg limit. That fine for the domestic flights. But am I going to be okay for this international flight? The baggage page does not provide any weight limit for the personal item. Will they weigh them together (if I get selected to weigh)?
