When is an appropriate time to take graduation photos?

I’m thinking about doing a graduation photoshoot for my graduation this upcoming November. Would late September/early October be too early to do the photos? Have any of you done this? When did you do yours? It feels weird doing some stuff preemptively. I know I’m going to graduate but sometimes I feel nervous that something could happen lol

Cords and Stuff for Graduation

Hey everyone,

Is there anyone here from commencement that can explain to me how cords work for your gown? What type of cords can you get and how do you get them? My advisor said they come automatically with the cap and gown. When I went to order my gown there wasn’t any option to choose cords. Will they just come without me ordering them? What are the criteria to get any of them? Can you get cords for being in an honor society? What other options are there for you’re cap and gown? Thanks in advance!

Is it frowned upon to interview and be selected for a job but turn it down?

I know hiring managers and recruiters most likely hate it because it probably feels like a waste of their time. I recently applied for a job, made it through 2 rounds of interviews and received an offer for the job. There are multiple reasons why I won’t take it, but when I applied for it originally I had intentions on taking it if the pay was good. The thing is I already have a decent job, I’m just looking for more pay. During the interview they revealed some information that personally made the job unfavorable for me. Also I like to keep my interview skills sharp.

Handshake Full of Job Scams

Hey everyone,

I called and reported this today, but I almost fell for a job scam on handshake. I’m usually very good for having an eye for scams but I’m in the job market and looking to leave my current job. I was emailed by a company to my personal email (maybe first red flag) saying that they came across my resume on handshake and were interested in scheduling an interview for a job paying up to $28 an hour. The pay didn’t raise any red flags because it wasn’t egregious. I reached out to them and they sent me a teams link to message them. We did a small pseudo interview through teams chat (second red flag) and I had to ask about details of the job. I also could not find much information about the company online or its job listings. I found the website but it didn’t have much on it. I do believe the company is real I just don’t believe that’s who contacted me. After the interview they sent me a link to fill out a form that was asking me questions about myself , but not much about my work or education history. It also asked how I want to be paid, through check or direct deposit (third red flag according to Reddit). After I filled out the form they told me they’d be reaching out in 24 hours with a decision (fourth red flag). They did reach out the next morning and said I got the job. I brought to their attention that this feels like a scam and that I’d like to speak with someone on the phone so they called me to let me know it was a “legitimate position”. I asked for next steps and they said I would need to buy equipment and they would reimburse me on my first paycheck (final red flag that made it click). I definitely don’t have the money to do that so I couldn’t have fallen for it and I know better than to do that anyways. But there weren’t many other signs that this was a scam. The grammar was correct, the pay was reasonable, the information just wasn’t very clear. I understand a lot of you may be thinking “well how wasn’t it obvious it was a scam” but I think hope can make you look past a lot of things, and in a market where no one is responding to job applications, things like that can be tempting. This is my first experience going through something like that and if SNHU wont warn you this can happen on a website they are promoting, then I definitely will. Happy job searching! - The company was called Vibrant Therapeutics btw.

So close that it hurts

I’m so close to finishing that it feels like torture . I have 6 classes left leaving me finishing in December. Is anyone else walking before they complete their degree? For anyone who has graduated how did you get past the last 6 months 😮‍💨
