Should I be concerned about this garage wall reframing?
I recently had a contractor reframe my garage wall.
For the brick side, we had talked about seated cuts into the rafters, but he used the existing blocking, rested it on the ledger and toenailed the studs into the ledger. The studs are notched and have some 2x4s connecting it to the rafters, so I think this should be ok.
I'm more concerned about the wall that extends off the house (where the plywood sheathing is). There was an old beam holding up part of the wall so they left that. Again, no seated cuts, and they used a partially ripped 2x4 across the rafters and notched the stud to fit the 2x4 and support approx 1/3 of the old beam. I should also mention that this beam does not span the entire wall. The end appears to have rotted away.
Does this work seem adequate? I don't want to cause any trouble, but I do have concerns.
I also added a picture of the garage before the work at the end as well.
Thank you.
