We all know that one of the ways men dismiss female rape statistics is by saying "rape happens to men too, you know!!" As if pointing out the horrendous rates of female rape is simultaneously denying / minimizing the existence and seriousness of male rape.
But the reaction on reddit to the JP Morgan scandal shows that men are the ones actually dismissing and minimizing male rape.
I was seeing tons of memes about "I wish I worked at JP Morgan" etc etc this morning, and when I finally found a link to an article on the actual incident I was horrified.
This poor man was crying while being raped and verbally abused. And the comments are full of men saying things like "Some guys pay good money for that kind of treatment" and "JP Morgan applications up %6,500 this morning". And all kinds of stupid visual gags implying that the story is "hot" (not to mention thirsting over pictures of the rapist).
Women are not the problem here. That's all. End of rant.
