How bad is the situation in 46

Unsure if this post is against the rules because I’m not currently a member of ibew but would like to join.

Context: 19yo in college with no major expenses like rent. Planning on being a stockman to get hours of experience while applications are closed for the inside wire apprenticeship. Would be getting my blue card in August and signing the books late August early September.

Mainly was wondering how you all would recommend me get familiar with materials I would be handling and what to expect from the job. Also is it even a good idea to get into it right now?
