Need dinner recommendations, please!

Need dinner recommendations, please!

I work in Selma, my buddy is down around 1604/90. We're starting to meet up every now and then after work for dinner, and I need suggestions. I'm aiming for anywhere in the circled area on the map, more or less between me and him, while avoiding downtown. We prefer local diner type places, be it Mexican, burger, Asian, or whatever you've got. A decent beer selection is a must, bonus points for a good michelada. We went to Chris Madrid's last time, to give an idea of what we're looking for.

Thanks in advance!

We recently (10 days ago) adopted a two year old blue Great Dane, Artemis, from what appeared to be a loving, if crowded, family. She is primarily a companion for my oldest daughter (17), who Artemis loves, and is already practically inseparable from (as you can see in the third pic). She is very sweet, seems well socialized, and is everything we expected after researching Danes and their personalities.

However, around me and my father, she is skittish. She will approach us if we are sitting, but avoids us if we are standing, and shies away when we raise a hand to pet her. She hasn't displayed any violent defensive tendencies toward us, just fear. She does not appear to have any such fear around my 15 year old son.

The woman we adopted her from stated that her husband was typically away all week at work and was rarely actually at the house. Could this behavior be due to Artemis simply not being socialized around men? What can we do to help her be more comfortable around us?

Yes, I realize that it can be a sign of abuse, but she is a perfectly happy dog otherwise, and after a trip to the vet, appears to be in perfect health and form. She doesn't whimper, whine, growl, or nip when a man tries to pet her, only shies away. The home she came from seemed very loving, just no longer able to support her, so I'd appreciate it if the comments didn't get filled up with abuse accusations. I'm more interested in how to help her be more comfortable around us.

All help is greatly appreciated! Thank you all in advance!
