The last time a Democrat won a statewide office in Texas was 1994. Now James Talarico has a real shot in this year’s midterms.

But what if this is bigger than just one election? What if Texas slowly starts going the way of Colorado or Virginia and eventually becomes a blue state?

Being from San Antonio, I’m curious what that would actually look like here. Bexar County already leans Democratic, but the rest of Texas is a completely different story. If Democrats start winning statewide, Republicans would have to rethink how they campaign here, especially with Hispanic and suburban voters.

What do y’all think? Is Texas actually starting to turn blue, or are we reading too much into one midterm election?

Hello all!

I’m looking at gauging the interest of those local to the San Antonio area to the prospect of establishing a weekly meeting for those interested in Stoicism or who regularly practice the philosophy. The main emphasis would be to establishing a core community which in turn would facilitate the growing need for third spaces (especially for those of us who have children) while also engaging in textual studies of the primary Stoic sources including some of the most well known: Seneca, Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus, Musonius Rufus, and so forth.

In short, for those of us who live busy lives but take philosophy very serious, this could be an outlet to meet, discuss/ ask questions, and, ultimately, find community. All perspectives would be welcomed and the format would primarily be group led discussions concerning ethics, God, and how to live a good life.

Is there a place in town that you can go to just to get a hug?

So I’ve been kinda goin through it for a few months the and things are getting lowkey kinda worse for me mentally. I’ve even started missing work because of the decline and I think I probably need to go get an assessment somewhere so if anyone knows any recommendations I’ll gladly take them, preferably someplace where they don’t charge an arm and a leg for an assessment.

I have read a few bad things about Laurel I believe it’s called so… yeah okay please any suggestions would be very helpful 🙂‍↕️

Any mom and pop places y'all like?

I don't want foam at all. I need a firm mattress, in fact I want an old school spring one, but the sales person at Mattress Firm told me that doesn't exist anymore??

I was in a local hospital for a few weeks! I didnt have a chance to thank the overnight nurses specially! But too all nurses thank you so much !

I hope this post finds these people, to both the tortas letting their children talk through a movie. Specifically the 7pm End of Oak Street at Santikos off of military. I am so tired of the lack of movie theater etiquette that seems to be spreading through SA. Now would be a great time to teach your kids manners instead of pretending like the world revolves around you and your shithead family. People like yall are the reason why there’s a disclosure to turn off your phones and be quiet before the movie starts, and you still can’t manage that. Great idea to bring your kids under 10 to a movie where people are being eaten too. May your children have nightmares for the rest of the week inshallah 🙏

We live far NW and getting to downtown is always such a hike. Looking for some nice spots for an anniversary dinner. Doesn’t need to be super high end, but just solid reputation (locally owned preferable), maybe that allows an outside bottle of wine for a corkage fee.

Any tales of recent experiences would be much appreciated.

Anybody have reliable (and affordable) donation services for furniture that will come pick it up? My couches are in great condition, I just have no way to move them to donate them. Got Junk can be several hundred dollars and I can’t pay that much for something I’m donating.
