Upgrading my CPU platform
Hi! As the title states, I'm looking at moving away from my ol' reliable Ryzen 5 5600X AM4 platform by going to AM5. Its a bitter sweet moment as I've grown attached to it. It has supported me through rough moments of my life since 2021. It survived being from a shitty furnace of a ASUS ROG prebuilt and transplanted into a new case in a custom build. I've noticed that in most games my GPU (4070 Super) is sitting at about 80% and my 1% lows are uhhh... low.
I don't use my PC for productivity. I play a different variety of games. From strategy games like Stellaris to scenic games such as Crimson Desert and first person shooters.
I'm deciding on two bundles.
Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32gb (16x2) CL30 tforce ram, Asus TUF B650-E for $999CAD
or
Ryzen 7 7900X, 32GB (16x2) CL30 Corsair RBG ram, Gigabyte Eagle B650 Eagle AX for $1054.98
I'm going up to the store on Saturday, and Ive pretty much sold myself on the 7800X3D just on the 3D V Cache. Is there something Ive missed that would make the 7900X a better purchase for my use case?
