In the start the economic struggle is real, aswell as the control hell, also in 20 years i got 2 coup attempts and barely dodged 3rd one because I was lucky for 5 years. Dodged succession war for long too since I was in coups.
I mean conquering is easy, I kicked all turkish boys asses and byzantium is next. You have no enemies, you just need to fine tune everything so much, so you efficiently can expand.
I gotta admit maybe it was kind of early to revoke banal lordship for 100 stab, but I wanted to try to take a risk so I don't have to worry about it later. And it did make my control bearable.
Now after 20 years, I think I will be snowballing crazy fast. All the bad laws are better (mamluks start with terrible laws). And economy is getting better, also soon i just take constantinople and put local gov there and i will swim in money.
