Weaving with “Fingering” or DK Knitting Yarn

I mostly want to know how much of a difference it will make? I did some research that usually it’s not good for the warp and fine for weft but what if I DO want to use it for the warp, how many modifications do I need to make to accommodate the mildly weaker yarn?

Also just wanted to get some insight from people who might have used them before. I saw some really pretty dyed yarn and I just wanted to know before I make an impulses buy on a new shiny object 🤩

Silk Weaving - How Do I get Glossyish Final Product?

so i had more of a random question when it comes to weaving on how one weaves with like the tiny reallllllly fine silk. What thread do yall use? What are good patterns for it? Are there any books????????? My internet search is only coming up with an old post in here where someone wanted to make a satin pillowcase and thats not really scratching my itch on how this all works.

Like I saw a dude make a cool table runner on tiktok that looked super glossy (satin or sateen weave or something idk) and had some fun flowers in it but i dont think he linked what he used. And it was def on a domestic floor loom. Like I have a 4 shaft table loom, if youve seen me post about it, yes she is a pain in my butt. But isnt every first child? (that was a joke i am a 21 yr old college kid with no kids)

but yeah i dont care about cost of stuff, i just wanna know what the stuff is for when i want to later down the line. Im dying here i just wanna knowwwwww

Warp and Weft Yarn Help

So I’m using 8/2 cotton for my warp and weft and the design I’m weaving is supposed to show up but it’s not? I really just kinda wanna know why it’s now showing up, are you suppose to use like a bigger weft/ warp yarn to make sure there’s enough space for the design to show up?

The pattern I’m using is from Kelly Cassanova from her table loom class at which is paid for so idk if I can show the pattern itself

I did it…

It looks dumb as heck but hey I’m doing my best here. Also a weird side note: why is my lojan flex being so weird with the back beam warp? Like I want you to be tight stop releasing more warp! Also I’m pretty sure my beater is crooked, oh well part of the charm

First Warp: I Hate it Burn it with Fire

Okay I get this is my first real warp but holy cow I hate this step so much.. I know I’m doing SOMETHING wrong because I tried using a warping board and during the transfer the dang 8/4 cotton thing gets tangled… I have a Lojan flex and let me tell YOU I hate that stupid metal apron rod, it’s too flimsy and ugh I don’t like it and I’ll probably buy a different one! Also a rattle! Ugh I try to keep my stuff nice and neat but you know how that went, and every time I see a video on warping someone either has access to a long table or have a rattle! Which I have neither so I’m going insane.

How in the world do yall not go insane!!!

I found out you can needlepoint loafers which is pretty cool! So I wanted to know if anyone has some general knowledge on like a template size for a loafer shoe and where I can send it off to finish, and or if I can find something to help finish it myself. Thank you!
