Help diagnose an issue where A&E and dermatologist can’t seem to work out
Follow up from my last post. The flare ups got considerably worse but over the last few days have started to calm down.
I went to A&E where the registrar initially thought it was herpes but called me back next day to say it presented more like chicken pox.
The dermatologist I’ve been seeing also can’t give a definitive diagnosis and wants to wait for the biopsy results. Which unfortunately is 2 weeks away.
I’ve since been on valaciclovir 500mg x2 a day. Haven’t noticed many newer spots since.
Parents can’t seem to recall whether I’ve been vaccinated against chickenpox but know I never caught it as a child. I also know that I do have HSV-1 as I do get cold sores. Last one from during this out break, possibly due to stress.
My obs are fine. Heart rate, blood pressure, temperature and full blood count all presented normal.
What could it be, dying to find out and get some closure.
