Poor credit rebuilding with my first card

Howdy. I am brand new to the credit card world. I destroyed my credit at 18 not paying back my student loans in time and my first ever reported score was a 380 (or something like that) ive tooth and nail crawled my way to a 640 now at 26 with on time payments and trying to be credit smart. I've not allowed myself to get a card till now due to just not being ready financially. But today I got myself a capital one saver card to start using to bring my score up faster and get out of the "fair to poor" range. I know the basics. Don't spend more than you have in your account. Pay it off every month. Gas and groceries all that. But any other tips for someone just trying to get their credit figured out?
