I recently started a new playthrough inspired by reading, on here, that you can play the whole game without ever interacting with Preston et al.
Seeing as last time I did a full-on Minutemen playthrough, I thought I'd give it a try and side with the BoS (boo! fascist!).

What I'm hoping I can do is use the BoS to take over as many settlements as possible for Proctor Teagan. Then planning to do NW and take over as many of these as possible for Shank.
Then, once I've destroyed the Institute, I'd like to bring in the Minutemen and take over all the settlements for them.

What do we think, is it feasible or are there any unknown "locks" I might activate?
