I took my car (2019 Jetta Gli) to the mechanic today for maintenance inspection and they found that there are only 3mm of my brake pads left and that my rotors need replacement. I got quoted 1k for the parts n labor🥲. So I decided to take this matter in my own hands.

Should I stick with the oem pagid semi-metallic brake pads or change it to akebono ceramics or ebc yellowstuff?

I quite like the braking quality of the oem pads with how responsive and smooth they are (even if i have to make a quick stop). But I don’t like the amount of brake dust they produce and the amount of wear they give the rotors. I heard that ceramics produce less dust and wear on the rotors but u’ll be sacrificing the braking quality. I do not take my car to track days but it is quite hilly in my area and I do like spirited driving in the mountains around once a week.

I put yellowstuff in here also because of the braking quality n less brake dust they claim for it to have. It is also at the same price as the redstuff.

Also, with the rotors, should I stick with the plain one regardless of the pad I choose?
