A few days with Launtel to get upgraded NTD

I was upgraded from FTTN to FTTP a couple of years ago, and have had the 1 Gbps tier since then (originally 1000/50, and now 1000/100).

I have no need for the 2 Gbps tier, and the price difference with most providers is big enough that I won't just do it for the sake of having the fastest possible connection on the odd occasion.

However, I like the idea of being future-proofed.

I've been looking at offers over the last couple of days, as I'm a bit sick of Superloop. I've given notice to cancel my service (to my surprise, the AI chatbot agreed to let me cancel at the end of my cycle in just over a week without charging me for another month despite it not being 30 days' notice).

I only looked at Launtel this morning for the first time, and learned that it's offerings are per day, not per month.

I decided to sign up with Launtel as an additional service, triggering an update to the 4-port multi-gigabit NTD. It did not go smoothly. The form said that I would have to churn to sign up to the 2 Gbps tier, and then that I would be put on 1 Gbps pending the NTD upgrade.

Then after I accepted that, it should that I had only ordered 1 Gbps.

After some very helpful live-chatting, I now have an order for an additional 2 Gbps service, and an installation date for the NTD.

Once it's in, and I've played around with the 2 Gbps plan, I can just go back to a 1 Gbps plan, probably with another provider as Launtel works out to be very expensive at that tier. Think I might try Neptune.

Has anyone else does this sort of thing to trigger an upgrade?
