Cataract surgery 3 days ago, freaking out
I had my right eye done on Wednesday with mono focal lens set to distance. I have never worn glasses. Didn’t need them and had great vision. when I noticed my vision declining in my mid 40s, I assumed it was age related. My vision declined a lot over 2 years and finally made an appointment. I was shocked to find out I had cataracts that were progressing fairly rapidly. I had my right eye done first as it was worse. I chose distance lens and knew I’d need readers for the rest of my life. Didn’t seem that big of a deal as I was already using them. However I have lost intermediate vision and I am freaking out. I cannot see anything clearly in that eye within 4-6 feet. Beyond that it’s pretty clear. My vision in that eye tested 20/25 the day after surgery when I saw my doctor. I was under the impression, I would have some intermediate vision with the distance monofocal. Google says the blurriness may be due to swelling but I have to know from people who no have gone through it. I do have my surgeons number but don’t want to bother him over my freak out on the weekend. Is there a chance this will get better? I’m so discouraged, I’m considering cancelling the left eye surgery out of fear of losing even more vision. If I have the same results with the second eye, I will not be able to see the dash to drive which was my hope. I knew I’d need readers for close up and maybe something for computer work but was not prepared to lose clear vision up to 4-6 weeks.
