I have started the tradition of making a cake for my daughter’s birthday and my husband didn’t want me to make one this year because he was going to make cupcakes and if I made a cake it wouldn’t fit the themes. I think we both had ideas in mind and it was hard to compromise so I finally just said my only sticking point was making a cake. I’m worried I went about this wrong and maybe I was too controlling?

This whole thing has been incredibly upsetting and now my husband won’t even discuss the party. Any mention of it, he shuts down. I’m very hurt but also kind of stuck. My family is very upset for me and can’t believe I’m putting up with it. I want some outside perspective instead of bias from the people who love me. Give it to me straight. Am I overreacting?
