I've been trying to get Ubuntu 26.04 working smoothly with a fresh install on this laptop, but I keep getting long, long pauses opening applications and poor video performance. Everything seems to install fine. It's on a fresh partition, and the nvidia-driver-595-open (recommended) is installed okay.

However in the logs I am getting these events:

kernel: NVRM: _kgspIsHeartbeatTimedOut: Heartbeat timed out, currentTimeMs 102110890 heartbeat 0 heartbeatWithOffsetMs 0 diff 102110890 timeout 5200

kernel: NVRM: _kgspRpcRecvPoll: GSP RM heartbeat timed out

I have searched around a lot and read that this might be caused by a power management issue with the GPU but I've failed to find any solution to it.

I wonder if anyone has come across a similar issue and managed to solve it?

When i google this generally, the AI is suggesting that I "disable GSP Firmware" which it says will tell the NVIDIA driver to handle management tasks directly on the CPU instead of offloading them to the GSP.... but that just feels like I'm crippling the system somewhat instead of solving the problem where it's really happening (ie. the power management, if that is indeed the cause).

I so wish there was a way of tweaking the terrible text colors in the game. Crazy problem, I know, but all the hot pink, hyper saturated red, green, etc are such at turn off.

I really love the feel of the game, and the art style, but the lack of any sort of deep lore or storyline is a real turn-off somehow. Do others feel this also? Am I missing something?

Attempting Ubuntu 26.04 on a new Dell Laptop DA14250, getting long hangs via a GPU problem "NVRM Heartbeat Timed Out". Any thoughts?
