🕵️‍♀️Looking for reviews: Sherwood Management Services Limited / Grove Hall Court

Hi everyone! I’m in the process of renting a room at Grove Hall Court in St John’s Wood and wanted to do a bit of due diligence before committing.

Has anyone had any experience with Emmanuel Farias or Sherwood Management Services Limited as a landlord/management company? I’d really appreciate any feedback (positive or negative) about how they are to rent from (communication, maintenance, deposit returns, etc.). Any red flags?!

I looked at Companies House, his LinkedIn, Google reviews about the place, Google street imagery re the location. Seems legit but wanting to confirm. You can never be too careful!! Particularly when it comes to money.

Feel free to DM me if you’d prefer not to comment publicly. Thanks so much!

Considering The Residences in East Croydon – how safe is the area?

Hi everyone,

I’m a 31F relocating to London from Singapore for work and am considering renting a one-bedroom apartment at **The Residences** near East Croydon station.

I’ve read mixed things about Croydon online, so I wanted to hear from people who actually live there or know the area well.

My main questions are:
How safe is the area around The Residences, particularly for a woman living alone?
Would you feel comfortable walking to and from East Croydon station after work (around 8–10 pm)?
Is the immediate neighbourhood around the building generally busy and well-lit?
Would you recommend it, or would you suggest looking elsewhere?
Does anyone have experience with The Residences and do you recommend it? Any hidden costs I should be aware of?!

I’d really appreciate any honest insights, especially from current or former residents. Thanks in advance!

Looking for Arabic classes or tutors in London 🇬🇧📚

Hi everyone! Hope this is the right forum for this post!

I’ll be relocating to London soon and am looking for recommendations for Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha) classes or tutors.

My goal isn’t conversational Arabic or a regional dialect. I’m looking to develop strong reading and written comprehension skills, ideally to an advanced level where I can confidently read, analyse and review complex written materials for professional & desktop-driven research purposes. I’ve had six months of online lessons off Preply.

Interested in:

- In-person classes (highly preferred!)
- Private tutors
- Reputable language schools
- Small group classes

Ideally somewhere in Central or North London, though I’m happy to travel for the right course.

If you’ve had a great experience or know of any good options, I’d really appreciate your recommendations. Thank you very much!!!

Where to stay in London?

Ok I’m pretty sure this topic has been discussed to death but I’m moving to London for a year in about a month’s time for work (mid to late July), knowing approximately ten people including my colleagues. I’m female and in my early 30’s and kinda stressed out about finding a place to stay amongst everything else.

Last summer I worked in our London office and I stayed in Peckham for the first half and Baker Street for the remaining time so I feel like I’ve had a nice spectrum of experiences in terms of neighbourhoods.

But I can’t decide now where to stay longer term?! I’d ideally wanna be close by to Bank Station as that’s where my work is. While I enjoyed Peckham, I think it was a bit of a hassle to get to the city so I’d wanna do smth more central like Baker Street thereabouts. I ideally want another flatmate and would prioritise having my own bathroom and an apartment with a living room!

Any suggestions on which neighbourhoods to target? Also where to hunt for places besides the usual spare room, Airbnb, zoopla, rightmove?

any tips/considerations/advice in general?!

Thanks!!!!!!
